Dancing with the Stars: AJ McLean to Dance to Backstreet Boys Song

Dancing with the Stars contestant AJ McLean will be giving his fans a special treat as his cha-chas to a Backstreet Boys hit song on Monday’s episode. AJ McLean is dancing alongside professional dancer Cheryl Burke on the 29th season of the show. DWTS kicked off season 29 in mid-September with an audience-free ballroom. Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean was cast this season alongside professional dancer Cheryl Burke. The production team is known for pairing up dancing pairs based on personality similarities in an effort to create a good connection. They definitely did just that with this duo.

Cheryl has stated that she was so happy to be partnered with AJ because they share similar past experiences. Both of them have struggled with substance abuse in the past and are currently working toward sobriety. Now, the dancing duo is about to launch their own podcast, calling it Pretty Messed Up. In an announcement on Instagram, Cheryl told her followers that the new podcast will be about exploring the not-so-good things that both she and AJ have done in the past. They’ll also share how they overcame those obstacles to get to where they are today.

Backstreet Boys fans better dig out their band merch in preparation for Monday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars. As reported by News Week, AJ and Cheryl will be dancing the cha-cha to the Backstreet Boys hit song “Larger Than Life.” Not only will the duo be dancing to the song, but there are also rumors that AJ’s fellow Backstreet Boys band members might make an appearance. On Wednesday, September 30, ABC shared that the Backstreet Boys could help out AJ during his special performance as his virtual background dancers.

AJ and Cheryl’s Backstreet Boys dance is not the only thing that Dancing with the Stars fans have to look forward to during this episode. That is because contestant Skai Jackson will be performing what is expected to be an emotional tribute to her fellow Disney Channel star, Cameron Boyce. The actor tragically passed away in 2019 due to a seizure in his sleep. Skai Jackson and partner Alan Bersten will be dancing to John Legend’s “Ordinary People.” In addition, tonight’s episode will include hit songs like Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA”, Harry Styles’ “Adore You,” and the White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.”

This episode of Dancing with the Stars doesn’t have an official theme, but it surely seems like an episode that the fans can’t miss. Hopefully, AJ McLean and Cheryl Burke can impress the judges enough to survive another week of eliminations.

Dancing With The Stars season 29 airs Mondays at 8pm ET on ABC.
