Daisy Ridley Teases Unexpected Changes For Rey In Her Next Star Wars Movie

The as-of-yet untitled Star Wars: New Jedi Order movie has been teased by star Daisy Ridley, with the actress giving Screen Rant exclusive hints at what could await Rey Skywalker. While Rey’s New Jedi Order Star Wars movie was initially expected to be the next theatrical film in the franchise, it is now expected to succeed The Mandalorian & Grogu. Regardless, theories and speculation have run rampant for the upcoming Star Wars movie, with Ridley teasing what is to come.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Ridley spoke at length about how she feels stepping back into the world of Star Wars. When asked what the actress feels she has left to explore with Rey after the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Ridley admitted she felt satisfied with her character’s culmination. That said, Ridley has been open about how exciting the new script for the New Jedi Order movie is, going as far as to tease some unexpected changes for Rey’s journey:

“I didn’t feel there was a stone left uncovered… So, I felt very satisfied… I started that at 21, and I’m now 31. I feel different… It will be interesting coming in, personally, in a different zone. And, also, in those intervening years from the last film, what has happened and where has that led Rey to?”

Have There Been Changes In Rey’s Personal Life As Well?

The latter sections of Ridley’s comments are certainly interesting, as they hint that the 15-year time gap between the new movie and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has changed Rey. Rather than Ridley simply replying with the concept that Rey is building a New Jedi Order, the actress implies some unexpected changes have occurred regarding the Jedi Master. This certainly makes sense, given that 15 years is enough to change anyone as a person.

Interestingly, time jumps in which characters come out the other side as different people are not uncommon in Star Wars. From Anakin Skywalker’s changes between Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones to Han, Luke, and Leia’s differences between the original and sequel trilogies, unseen character arcs have long permeated the franchise. As per Daisy Ridley’s comments, it seems Rey Skywalker will be the next character to undergo such a change, with unexpected differences altering her character for Star Wars: New Jedi Order.
