Daenerys, Her Dragon & Other Game Of Thrones Characters Get The Disney Treatment In Stunning Art

Game of Thrones characters get the Disney classical animation treatment in whimsical art. Based on the books by author George R.R. Martin, the hit fantasy first released on HBO in 2011, chronicling the battles and political power plays between the ruling families of Westeros as they vie for the Iron Throne. Game of Thrones came to an end in 2019 with season 8, though the world of the show lives on in the form of various spinoffs.

In a new batch of AI-generated images shared by AI Dreams on Instagram, Game of Thrones‘ cast of characters get reimagined as characters in a classic Disney animated movie. Check out the art below:

Would Game Of Thrones Work In Animation?

Audiences Are About To Find Out

Daenerys, Her Dragon & Other Game Of Thrones Characters Get The Disney Treatment In Stunning Art

All 8 seasons of Game of Thrones played out in live-action, meaning audiences never got to see characters like Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Cersei (Lena Headey), and Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) battle it out in animation. That same can be said for House of the Dragon, the first Game of Thrones spinoff, which adapts the events of Martin’s Fire & Blood. While the forays into Westeros have all been live-action so far, an animated take on Martin’s world is on the horizon.

There remain a number of Game of Thrones spinoffs currently in development, including some set in the world of animation. Martin revealed in December that there are currently three animated series in the works in total. While two of the shows remain shrouded in mystery, Martin revealed that the announced Sea Snakes show had made the jump from live-action to animation. According to the author, the change came after it was deemed that the show would be “prohibitively expensive” in live-action.

Whether any of these three animated Game of Thrones shows ever see the light of day remains to be seen, but they will evidently represent a big test for the franchise. Audience interest has remained high in live-action Westeros content, but it’s unclear if this same audience will turn up if the story is presented in a different medium. The world of Westeros is vast and fantastical, however, and there is a tone and flavor to Martin’s work that could work well in animation if given the chance.
