Cyberpunk 2077’s Free Stadia Premiere Promotion Ends Early

The Google Stadia Premiere promotion for Cyberpunk 2077 has come to an end early after a massively positive response to it. The promotion offered a free Stadia Premiere Edition included with pre-orders of Cyberpunk 2077 or any copy purchased before December 18. However, it seems it has come to end as of December 13.

Even though Cyberpunk 2077 has been riddled with glitches along with performance issues, that didn’t stop the free Stadia promotion from growing intensely over the last couple of days since the game’s release. In the promotion, Google also offered the chance at a free White Controller, and a Chromecast Ultra, along with the game. Many users said that it was a great deal and a good chance for people to try Stadia in general. Google has struggled to convinced players to give Stadia a try so far, but it seems that the Cyberpunk 2077 promotion has become too popular for its own good.

In a post on the Stadia subreddit, GraceFromGoogle talked about how the company had to close the promotion for Cyberpunk 2077 due to the “overwhelmingly positive reception.” Orders placed before 4 p.m. PT on December 13 were still eligible for the promotion and players will receive a code within a week to redeem the Premiere Edition. However, any order placed after that is no longer eligible for the free Stadia kit. GraceFromGoogle also said that the promotion ended even earlier for players who might have bought the game from Canada, back on December 10.

For a game that has been as polarizing as Cyberpunk 2077 has been, it’s a surprise that even a couple of days later, it still had such a great positive reception. However, that could also be because players were able to receive two free items within the promotion, as well as the Premiere Edition, so there’s a bit more incentive to purchase the pack. Google Stadia is also an online library of games that are usually played on PCs – which Cyberpunk 2077 apparently runs a lot better on – so the possibility of having the good version of the game compared to the glitchy versions that have been coming onto the consoles is something many Stadia fans – as well as newcomers – were probably looking forward to.

Cyberpunk 2077 is still available to play on the Stadia library despite the promotion being ended early. If players want the chance to sign up, there’s a month-long Stadia Pro free trial available, and after that, it’s $9.99 a month that can be canceled at any time.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC.
