Crisis On Infinite Earths: 5 New Characters That Deserve Their Own Spin-Offs (& 5 That Don’t)

Crisis On Infinite Earths: 5 New Characters That Deserve Their Own Spin-Offs (& 5 That Don’t)

The catastrophic event Crisis on Infinite Earths has brought in heroes from all over the multiverse to join in and help prevent their own worlds from being destroyed. From Smallville to Birds of Prey we’ve seen cameos from shows and movies we never thought we’d see again as well as intros to heroes we’ve never seen before.

Like any hero intro, not everyone gets welcomed with open arms and some spend too much time getting criticized. So which character is well-deserving of their own spinoff? and Which doesn’t as much? Here are five characters that deserve their own show and five that don’t Let’s dive in.

DO: Clark Kent/Superman (Kingdom Come)

Crisis On Infinite Earths: 5 New Characters That Deserve Their Own Spin-Offs (& 5 That Don’t)

Brandon Routh became very well known for playing the Man of Steel in Superman Returns in 2006. What some might not know is that the Superman in that reality was the same as the Christopher Reeve Superman in earlier years. This means that the Kingdom Come Superman has years and years under his belt, living countless adventures. This is the very reason we’d love to see a spin-off of the hero, simply just to let longtime Superman fans how our favorite son of Krypton is doing. We already know Routh has what it takes to be part of the Arrowverse and portray various heroes.

DONT: Clark Kent/Superman (Smallville)

We loved Tom Welling as Clark Kent in Smallville. He was everything we wanted in the hero and more, showing Clark’s charming and good guy personality. When it was announced Welling reprise his role as Clark, many fans were excited for what was to come. Unfortunately, his minor role was underwhelming and his story as Superman only lasted about a decade, so there wouldn’t be enough coverage of the Man of Steel that would provide us closure from the last time we saw him in 2011.

DO: Bruce Wayne/Batman (Kingdom Come)

Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne aka Batman in Crisis on Infinite Earths

Although Kevin Conroy played a minor role in the Crisis, the few minutes of screentime was all we needed to see to picture his potential as the caped crusader. After years of voicing Batman, it seems Conroy was born to play an older, narcissistic Bruce Wayne with a twisted perception of justice. Although some fans might not be on board with making Bruce Wayne a villain, it could be an interesting and unique take on the Batman persona. It could be very intriguing, to say the least. Add in the fact he’s not from Earth-1, it wouldn’t take any attention away from his counterparts.

DONT: Killer Frost/Caitlin Snow (Earth-1)

Although the same actress (Danielle Panabaker) has played Killer Frost on The Flash tv show, we’ve seen a lot of changes to her personality. She started off as evil and fearless villain with a thirst for chaos and then became a rebellious anti-hero.

Today Killer Frost is seen as a scared and child-like hero, acting out in small acts of rebellion for forced laughter. She doesn’t have the personality to run a show and barely gets popularity as a minor Flash character as it is. Nothing against the actress, it is just her character development is all over the place.

DO: Barry Allen/The Flash (Earth-90)

The Flash Trickster 1990 TV Show

Similar to Brandon Routh, we’ve seen John Wesley Shipp reprise his role he was once famous for. Before Grant Gustin and the CW, Shipp was actually Barry Allen and manned his own show that ran for a season. Today, he is somewhat of a legend in the Arrowverse, portraying different characters like Jay Garrick, Henry Allen, and now again as Barry Allen. Like Routh, fans would love to see what came to be of the Scarlet Speedster and what he’s been through since the early 90s.

Even though at the time of writing this, Earth 90 Flash is presumed dead, there’s a chance he could be brought back as we’ve from different characters in the Arrowverse.

DONT: Ryan Choi (Earth-1)

With Brandon Routh confirming that he would leave his role as Atom on Legends of Tomorrow, many suspected Osric Chau would be introduced at one point or another to replace him. In the comics, Ryan Choi is Atom after Ray Palmer and since he’s been mentioned in the Arrowverse prior to his introduction, it’s safe to say he’ll be a big part of it. Which is why he wouldn’t do well in his own spinoff. The Atom, although compared to Antman of Marvel has nowhere near as many fans and the prominence of the character would easily be overshadowed.

DO: Oliver Queen as the Spectre (Earth-1)

Arrow: Oliver Queen with green glowing eyes

With Arrow coming to an end after eight seasons, we have seen the show as a bit of a farewell for Stephen Amell and his time as the Green Arrow, the one that started it all. Gaining popularity for his portrayal of Oliver Queen, some fans might not want to say good-bye to Amell just yet and feel he still has to be in the Arrowverse in one way or another.

This is where his role as The Spectre would come in. Although in the comics it was Hal Jordan AKA Green Lantern that took on the Spectre persona, the CW writers can bend some stories to draw out a plot with Oliver Queen instead.

DONT: The Monitor

Introduced in last year’s Elseworld’s crossover, The Monitor is at the forefront of all that’s happened at this point in the Crisis. As an all-powerful entity, Monitor is arguably one of the strongest characters we’ve seen this far in the Arrowverse, but that doesn’t necessarily make him a must-see character. Overshadowed by the cameos of favorites and the superior acting of our current heroes, Monitor doesn’t offer much as a character. In his small appearances throughout the CW shows, he still hasn’t revealed much about his power or even what he is exactly. It’s not enough to capture audiences in a stand-alone series.

DO: Lex Luthor (Earth-38)

Played by veteran actor John Cryer, Lex Luthor has a rare qualifier not a lot of characters on this list have and that’s a fleshed-out backstory. spending time as the main villain in Supergirl, Lex had an entire complex backstory and we can all see why the Kryptonian cousins can stand the guy.

Brought back to stir up some trouble for the Crisis, Lex quickly shows why he’s not to be reckoned with as he goes to universes to kill different Supermen in the universe. Watching a show where Lex uses his mind and evil masterminding to cause trouble for Superman or Supergirl could be great.

DONT: Clark Kent/Superman (Earth-38)

Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) in the Arrowverse

Arguably one of the strongest heroes in the Arrowverse, Clark Kent plays a minor role in Supergirl and a big one in the Crisis. He still doesn’t seem like the real man of steel as he once again gets wiped out easily and relies on his younger cousin to bail him out. Although there’s already been a show confirmed, it won’t have much backstory and could closely resemble the Rebirth Superman story arcs as it shows an older Superman raising his son. It still wouldn’t be as popular as Supergirl.
