Comic-Con 2014: Fox Is Bringing ‘Agent 47,’ ‘Secret Service’ & More to Hall H

In just two short weeks, San Diego Comic-Con 2014 will be here, which means we’ll have more movie, TV, and general entertainment news for you to peruse than most people could even begin to enjoy. We’ve already created a Top 10 list of things we really want to see at the Con this year, and news is starting to trickle in regarding which projects we’re likely to see (Fantastic Four, Ant-Man, Agent Carter, and on).

Now two studios – Dreamworks Animation and Fox – have unveiled the films we can expect to see at their respective panels on Thursday the 24th and Friday the 25th.

First up is Dreamworks. According to their press release, they’ll have panels for their upcoming animated films – The Penguins of Madagascar and Home – in Hall H on Thursday, July 24th from 11:30am to 1pmPenguins of Madagascar, of course, is the spinoff to the popular Madagascar franchise – featuring those eminently likable Penguins – starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the villain. The film follows from the Nickelodeon TV series of the same name.

Home is an original animated movie about a teenage girl (Rihanna) and the alien she befriends (Jim Parsons). It sort of sounds like E.T. if E.T. were also about well-meaning aliens that invaded Earth and relocated all the humans.

‘Home’

‘Home’ with Director Tim Johnson

The two fugitives realize there’s a lot more at stake than intergalactic relations as they embark on the road trip of a lifetime.

As you can see, the stars of Penguins – including Cumberbatch and John Malkovich – will be on hand at their panel. Rihanna, however, will not be in attendance for the Home panel. Sorry, Rihanna fans.

20th Century Fox Comic-Con Presentation 2014

Hitman reboot Agent 47 begins production

Next up is Fox on Friday, July 25th from 4:20pm to 6:20pm in Hall H.

Unlike Dreamworks, Fox’s panel has quite a bit going on, with a few very notable genre pictures – including Agent 47 (the semi-reboot/sequel to the video game adaptation Hitman), Kingsman: The Secret Service (the second Mark Millar comic book adaptation to be directed by Matthew Vaughn), and The Maze Runner (the next big YA movie, perhaps?).

The other two movies that have panels are the buddy “cop” comedy Let’s Be Cops – starring Damon Wayans Jr. (Happy Endings), Jake Johnson (The New Girl), and Keegan Michael-Key (Key and Peele) – and The Book of Life, a really cool-looking animated film from producer Guillermo del Toro that sort of resembles the classic adventure game Grim Fandango.

Quite a few prominent actors, directors, et cetera, will be in attendance, including Damon Wayans Jr. and Keegan Michael-Kay (Let’s Be Cops); Dylan O’Brien (The Maze Runner); Channing Tatum, Ron Perlman, Christina Applegate, and Guillermo del Toro (Book of Life); Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Millar, and David Gibbons (Secret Service); and Zachary Quinto (Agent 47).

The Book of Life Animated Movie

‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ with Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Taron Egerton, Sophie Cookson, Sofia Boutella and Co-Creators Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons

‘Agent 47’ with Zachary Quinto and Hannah Ware

Synopsis: Based on the top-selling, award-winning videogame franchise, ‘Agent 47’ is an all-new motion picture about an elite and genetically engineered assassin, known only by the last two digits – 47 – of a barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. His latest target is a young woman on the run from powerful and clandestine forces. The mission brings startling revelations about the lethal agent and his prey, hurtling them on a collision course with their pasts. And this time, his number may be up.
