Domingo started acting in the mid-1990s with roles in films including Timepiece and the Clint Eastwood-directed mystery True Crime. Soon after Domingo appeared several times on police procedural series Nash Bridges, playing four different characters over the course of three seasons. In 2015 Colman Domingo landed his most high-profile TV role to date, playing the mysterious Victor Strand on AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead. Domingo initially joined the cast as a recurring character until he was promoted to a series regular after the first season aired. He played Hark in Nate Parker’s directorial debut The Birth Of A Nation and Principal Turrell in black comedy Assassination Nation alongside roles as Coach Castile in indie sports drama First Match and as Joseph Rivers in If Beale Street Could Talk. In the past couple of years, Domingo has also appeared in Zola and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Beyond his movies and TV work, he’s a prolific stage actor and playwright too. He’s had roles in productions of Shakespeare plays including A Midsummer Night’s DreamThe Taming Of The Shrew and starred as Billy Flynn in a Broadway production of Chicago. He also penned the autobiographical one-man play A Boy And His Soul and co-wrote Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, alongside giving an Olivier Award-nominated turn as Mr. Bones in a West End production of musical The Scottsboro Boys.
