Cobra Kai Season 6 Release Date Revealed

Cobra Kai Season 6 Release Date Revealed

Cobra Kai season 6 has gotten an official release schedule for the show’s final episodes. The Netflix series, which was originally created for YouTube Red before moving to the other streaming platform for season 3, is a sequel to the Karate Kid movie franchise. In addition to an ensemble of new original characters, the movie features legacy characters from throughout the franchise, centering on the strained relationship between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), who were rivals in the original 1984 movie.

During Netflix is a Joke Fest, Netflix announced the official release date for Cobra Kai season 6. The season, which consists of 15 episodes, will be split into three parts. Netflix will premiere part one on July 18, 2024, followed by part two on November 28, 2024. The show will conclude on an as-yet unspecified date in 2025 with the final part, which is being billed as the Finale Event. There is currently no word as to whether each part will consist of five episodes or if there will be a different distribution for the three releases.

The Cobra Kai Season 6 Release Is Perfectly Timed

The Upcoming Karate Kid Movie Is Set To Continue The Franchise

Cobra Kai Season 6 Release Date Revealed

This release strategy for Cobra Kai season 6 has the opportunity to provide the show’s grand finale with the perfect timeline. For one thing, splitting the season into three parts will extend the show’s farewell run as long as possible so both veteran and new viewers will have time to catch up and become emotionally invested in the story. However, ultimately, the biggest concern for the release of the show is likely the fact that there will be a new Karate Kid movie coming out in 2025.

The upcoming movie, which features Macchio starring opposite Jackie Chan reprising his role as martial arts mentor Mr. Han from the 2010 The Karate Kid reboot, will be set on the East Coast and center on a new karate student played by Ben Wang. It is currently unknown when in the franchise timeline the movie takes place, but regardless of the chronology, it makes more sense for the movie to come out after the finale of the show rather than its original 2024 release date.

The New Karate Kid Movie’s Delay Confirms A Cobra Kai Season 6 Theory

The new Karate Kid movie has been pushed back to May 2025, allowing Cobra Kai season 6 to release first – and this seemingly proves a popular theory.

Because the final episodes of the show are still undated, it remains to be seen how close the date lands to the movie’s premiere. It is currently unknown if any other members of the Cobra Kai cast will be joining Macchio in the movie, but the show could be perfectly timed for the finale to lead smoothly into the new project. It may not turn out to be necessary in terms of character continuity, but this release will make it feel like the show is passing the baton to the movie rather than running alongside it and oversaturating the market.
