Cobra Kai Season 5 Trailer Teases Daniel & Chozen Take On Terry Silver

The first trailer for Cobra Kai season 5 has revealed the premiere date for the returning Netflix series. Cobra Kai is the massively successful revival series that continues The Karate Kid film franchise, bringing back original stars Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence, Martin Kove as John Kreese, Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver, and Yuji Okumoto as Chozen. The series also features a batch of new and up-and-coming stars, including Xolo Maridueña, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, and Peyton List among a growing cast of supporting players added from season to season.

Cobra Kai originated at YouTube Red before moving to Netflix, where it has become a streaming behemoth, building an even stronger fanbase and revitalizing the franchise in a major way. Last season saw a number of big events leave the ensemble cast of characters in a state of disarray, particularly with Silver framing Kreese and taking taking over the Cobra Kai dojo. After losing the All-Valley Karate Tournament, both Daniel and Johnny found themselves teaming up yet again to fight the threat of Cobra Kai, which is now more dangerous than ever. The Cobra Kai season 4 finale also saw the return of Chozen, Daniel’s former nemesis and now Miyagi-Do instructor, who comes to Daniel’s aid to take on Silver’s new Cobra Kai.

Cobra Kai season 5 had already finished filming when season 4 debuted, and now Netflix looks to deliver the new episodes a few months earlier than expected. In a new trailer for Cobra Kai season 5, Netflix has revealed the premiere date as September 9, 2022. It also teases what fans can expect as Daniel, Johnny, and Chozen take on Silver’s new Cobra Kai dojo. Take a look at the trailer below:

With so many story threads now in motion, there’s a lot to resolve in Cobra Kai season 5, with the constant tug-of-war between the various dojos that continue to fight for dominance in the valley. The showrunners have recently said that there is much more story to tell and are well into working on Cobra Kai season 6. There’s also been discussion of spinoffs for a variety of characters from both the Cobra Kai series and The Karate Kid films, as well as more guest stars from the film franchise. Fans have been hounding the showrunners about the return of The Next Karate Kid‘s Hilary Swank, who took over the series after Macchio. There’s no sign of her in the new trailer, but there could be more surprises ahead.

Cobra Kai has continued to be a rousing and engaging show that transcends the material, while still honoring the legacy that built it. The showrunners have shown a true mastery of the characters both old and new, creating a revival franchise that sets a template for all others to follow. For those that have invested in the show thus far, there’s plenty of excitement ahead, especially knowing that the series has at least one more season after Cobra Kai season 5, which Griffith says is even better than season 4.
