Clifford The Big Red Dog Sets New Streaming Record For Paramount+

Clifford the Big Red Dog recently earned itself the title of the most-watched original film on ViacomCBS’s streaming platform Paramount+. Clifford first traipsed onto the scene in 1963, when Norman Bridwell published the foremost in a line of children’s books that featured the big red loveable canine. In the series, Emily Elizabeth is Clifford’s adoring pet owner, and while he was originally born as the runt of his litter, he grew to an enormous size in response to the overabundance of love he received from Emily. All in all, Clifford the Big Red Dog encompasses a kaleidoscope of adventures across 80 books, 2 television series, and a feature film. He is also the official mascot of Scholastic.

Now, Comicbook.com reports that Clifford the Big Red Dog has become the most-watched original film on ViacomCBS’s streaming platform Paramount+. The film arrived on the streaming platform and in theaters simultaneously last week, and while it was narrowly edged out by Eternals at the box office, its real success seemingly came from home-viewing. This is not to say its time in theaters has been unsuccessful by any means – the film’s box-office take over its opening weekend was a substantial $22 million, beating expectations.

Paramount+ has made a few big releases on their platform this year, including Paw Patrol: The Movie and Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin. However, even though the platform did not release any official streaming data, Clifford has seemingly transcended them all. This is quite a feat for the four-legged companion, and in the wake of his sweeping victory, the studio could begin development on a sequel relatively soon. Audiences will presumably find Clifford the Big Red Dog sniffing his way onto screens again in the somewhat near future.
