Disney has released an extended four-minute Christopher Robin trailer that includes more scenes with Winnie the Pooh in the live-action film. The Silly Old Bear is voiced yet again here by Jim Cummings: the beloved performer who’s been providing the character’s vocals for the past thirty years now.
Written by Alex Ross Perry (Queen of Earth) and Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures), Christopher Robin picks up with the film’s namesake in the year 1949. Now a grown man (played by Ewan McGregor) and WWII veteran, Christopher spends life as an adult trying, yet struggling, to balance his responsibilities at work while still carving out time for his wife Evelyn (Hayley Atwell) and daughter Madeline (Bronte Carmichael). However, everything changes when Christopher’s childhood playmate Winnie the Pooh inexplicably turns up in London and leads him back to the Hundred Acre Wood for a long-awaited reunion with his friends there (including, Piglet, Eeyore, and Tigger).

Naturally, the Mouse House’s Christopher Robin trailer marketing has focused heavily on scenes that follow Christopher and his old pal Pooh, as the former tries to quietly navigate ’40s London without calling attention to the fact that he’s carrying a sentient toy bear who talks and walks. That trend continues with the four-minute trailer, which features extended versions of scenes glimpsed in Christopher Robin clips past (like Pooh playing “Say What You See” during his train ride with Christopher). The Christopher Robin extended trailer also features more scenes with Pooh’s “peers” in the film, including Piglet (Nick Mohammed), Tigger (also Cummings), Owl (Toby Jones), and Eeyore (Brad Garrett). Rabbit (Peter Capaldi), Kanga (Sophie Okonedo), and Roo (Sara Sheen) also make brief appearances in this preview, albeit without speaking just yet. Finally, the Christopher Robin trailer ends with yet another tease that both Evelyn and Madeline will eventually join Christopher and his childhood toys for a day in the Hundred Acre Wood.
All things considered, the latest Christopher Robin trailer (like those before it) suggests the film proper ought to delight younger and older moviegoers alike, while at the same time making grown-ups feel more than a little nostalgic for their own childhoods playing with Pooh and his friends. Christopher Robin director Marc Forster certainly knows a thing or two about how to both pull on people’s heartstrings (see Finding Neverland) and handle magical realism premises (see Stranger Than Fiction), so that bodes all the better for his efforts here.
