Christopher Nolan has finally earned his first Academy Award 15 years after one of his most popular films changed the Oscars forever. Nolan won Best Director for Oppenheimer at the 96th Academy Awards.
The Dark Knight had notably been snubbed for a Best Picture nomination at the 2009 Academy Awards. In response to the controversy, the Best Picture category has been expanded to include a maximum of 10 nominations. In a full circle moment, Oppenheimer took home Best Picture at the 2024 Oscars.

Oppenheimer is a film by Christopher Nolan, which follows the theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, the man behind the atomic bomb. Cillian Murphy will play the titular role, with the story based on the book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.
