Chris Evans Swears In Multiple Languages In Fun Knives Out Supercut

Chris Evans swears in multiple different languages in a fun new Knives Out supercut video. Following on the massive box office success of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, writer-director Rian Johnson changed things up by tackling the suddenly-revived murder-mystery genre and came up with a second straight hit (that also managed to hit with critics).

Of course, much of the success of Johnson’s Knives Out was due to the ensemble cast he was able to assemble, headed up by Evans along with Daniel Craig, Golden Globes-nominated Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Michael Shannon, Katherine Langford and Christopher Plummer. The movie’s juicy murder-mystery plot, centered around an eccentric and bickering family, indeed afforded many of these stars the opportunity to step outside their usual comfort zones and deliver unexpected performances. Evans in particular played strongly against type, setting aside his straight-laced Captain America persona to play the slimy and ultimately villainous Ransom Drysdale.

Of all Evans’ memorably obnoxious moments in Knives Out, none left a more indelible impression than the now famous scene where the black sheep Ransom tells various members of his family off by urging them to “eat s–t.” Now, the official Knives Out Twitter has posted a hilarious video clip compiling various different translations of Evans’ memorable moment of profanity to create a multilingual supercut. See the hilarious video in the space below:

Of course, Evans’ “eat s–t” line is made all the more amusing because it does go so against the upstanding Captain America persona the actor so thoroughly established in the MCU. In fact, the scene was originally going to be even more profane as Johnson wanted Ransom to say “f–k you” to his family members, but it was finally decided on the day of filming that imploring them to “eat s–t” would be funnier. The scene turned out so well that it was actually used in the trailers for the movie, helping tease Evans’ genuinely unpleasant and decidedly non-Captain America character.

Ultimately, Knives Out would prove to be a shrewd career move for Evans, as it helped him break away from the limitations of his familiar good guy persona and demonstrate that he’s able to play a jerk as well as he can play a hero. Indeed, the movie was also a smart move for Johnson as it helped him escape the shadow of the Star Wars franchise and perhaps win back some fans who were not happy with the choices he made on The Last Jedi. Overall, Knives Out was a huge winner for everyone involved, and it will be interesting to see what Johnson and company come up with for the sequel, which is expected to bring back Craig’s eccentric detective Benoit Blanc.
