The popular Choose Your Own Adventure series returns with Forecast from Stonehenge, a new graphic novel from Oni Press. The Choose Your Own Adventure books have entertained generations of fans, inserting them into the story and giving them a say in how events play out. Oni Press has delighted readers with graphic novel adaptations of popular Choose Your Own Adventure stories–and now Screen Rant is pleased to present an exclusive first look at Forecast from Stonehenge.
Choose Your Own Adventure: Forecast from Stonehenge will arrive in stores next April, and will be written by Stephanie Phillips and drawn by Dani Bolinho. Featuring 16 different endings, Forecast from Stonehenge is a “vibrant” adaptation of the classic novel. Oni’s official synopsis for the book reads as follows:
In this Choose Your Own Adventure graphic novel, adapted from the classic ChooseCo book, you’ll be visiting the infamous and enigmatic Stonehenge as a young traveler. While attending a solstice event held by a nameless group of druids in disguise, you’ll meet numerous characters like the excitable wizard Alistair, the deadly fairy Elaine and her horde, and even a woodland nymph Liandra. At the center are the secrets of Stonehenge and a magical scythe that’s fallen into your hands. Who you meet, and whether they’re friends or foes will be up to you as you choose where the story takes you! Part explorer, part detective, you’ll explore London’s underground in search of answers to uncover the secrets of the famous Stonehenge.

First appearing in 1979, the Choose Your Own Adventure novels enthralled children throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including some of the creators behind the new graphic novel. “I was excited to help bring a Choose Your Own Adventure story to comics and expand the audience of readers who get to experience this fun and unique format,” said writer Phillips. “As a kid, I loved CYOA stories because they allowed me to take an active role in the story being told, and thanks to Dani Bolinho’s art I think readers will absolutely feel like they are being pulled into the world of Forecast from Stonehenge.”

The Choose Your Own Adventure Series Has a Long History
The first Choose Your Own Adventure novels were unique in the literary landscape. The brainchild of Edward Packard, the Choose Your Own Adventure novels put the reader at the center of the book. Written in the second person, the novels would have multiple endings, dictated by the choices the reader makes. Dubbed “gamebooks,” the Choose Your Own Adventure series was a smash success for Bantam Books, selling more than 250 million copies by the time the original line ceased in 1998. The series was revived in 2003, with a mixture of both new titles and classic reprints. Oni Press, the masterminds behind some of the best graphic novels currently on the market, has released two other adaptations of Choose Your Own Adventure books, and Forecast from Stonehenge will be its most exciting yet.
