There’s a comedy movie out there for everyone, whether it be family-friendly animation, dark humor, or something totally different. The genre might seem like one that could be full of similar films, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
A great way to find movies that a viewer will love or hate is by using the Chinese zodiac and looking at the typical traits of their sign. This list will focus on the traits of the Dragon to determine what comedy movies they would love and which they would hate.
Love: Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy (2004)
Straight out the gate, a comedy that dragon zodiacs would love is Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy, which has a real focus on the workplace. With Ron consistently pushing to be the best newsman he possibly can, he leads his team with pride, and these leadership qualities are what suit a Dragon very well.
Ron is a hilarious character, and although he is very arrogant, which is another trait of Dragons, this could make him relatable. The film has some fantastic one-liners mixed with some practical comedy and the cast of comedic legends really helps put this one over the edge.
Hate: Blockers (2018)
Blockers might have been a lot of fun, but that doesn’t mean that it’s for everyone. Dragons likely wouldn’t attach to this film, mainly because they tend to be fairly passive when it comes to romance, and therefore deep family attachments aren’t always key for them.
Therefore, seeing these parents worry so much and do everything that they can to interfere in their children’s lives might not be something that they particularly enjoy.
Love: Zoolander (2001)
Dragons do tend to have a few poor traits, such as a tendency towards being arrogant, aggressive, and quite argumentative, but they manage to counterbalance these traits with the fact they are very aware of them. They tend to know their flaws and have no problems in mocking themselves about it.
That’s why a movie like Zoolander would be perfect for them, as it focuses on two male models who both have many of these traits. However, the fact that they can open up and laugh at themselves makes this a film that a Dragon will enjoy.
Hate: Dumb And Dumber (1994)
Dumb And Dumber certainly has a huge audience that really appreciates this style of comedy, but for Dragons, it is unlikely this duo will provide the laughs. This style of comedy is one that would likely not land as well with Dragons.
The main reason for this is that they tend to be quite serious and driven people, and therefore they are more likely to be impressed by funny lines and comedy that makes one think, as opposed to obvious slapstick, like seen in this comedy.
Love: Pitch Perfect (2012)
Pitch Perfect might not be for everyone, but for those who fall under the Dragon sign in the Chinese zodiac, this would likely be an ideal comedy movie. The plot is creative and this is something that will really appeal to the average Dragon.
Dragons are amongst some of the most creative people in the Chinese zodiac and will enjoy the singing and performances in this film, making it a fun film for them.
Hate: School Of Rock (2003)
Even though Dragons will likely find some enjoyment in all the creative elements of School Of Rock, such as the music and the detail that the children put into creating a show, it won’t be a perfect film for them.
The main reason for this is because of the lack of confidence in Dewey Finn. He might have no problems when he has a guitar in his hand, but at his core, this character is full of self-doubt, and he’s not the only one. The principal, Ned Schneebly, and even some of the children have this characteristic, and it’s one that doesn’t fit with the Dragon sign.
Will Love: American Pie (1999)
When it comes to the world of love, dragon zodiacs tend to be people who really try hard and want to please as many people as possible and that is exactly what the main characters of American Pie are like. They are all desperate to find love and be seen as nice guys, often going above and beyond in their actions.
While they typically fall short in hilarious fashion or fumble and make mistakes along the way, there’s no doubt that the effort is always there and their hearts are in the right place. Because of that, dragon zodiacs should find this one funny.
Hate: Horrible Bosses
Horrible Bosses connected well with most people because the idea of people hating their bosses is something that many people can relate to. However, Dragons are typically always in a leadership role because of their personalities.
Due to this, it might be harder for people under this zodiac sign to relate to a story about three people who want to kill their bosses for different reasons. It just isn’t something that they will connect with as strongly as other films, and therefore they’d likely not enjoy this one.
Love: Legally Blonde (2001)
Wealth and success at a young age is something many Dragons relish in and achieve and they are often not afraid to brag about this. This is one of the reasons why Legally Blonde is a movie and one that they will love, simply because it is easy to relate to the content.
Elle Woods is just such a confident character who, despite her flaws, is someone who loves herself and doesn’t care who knows about it. Her swagger is something that Dragons will love to see, making this a top movie for them.
Hate: The Hangover (2009)
The Hangover franchise is iconic, and even though all three movies are incredibly similar, they do all provide some great comedy. However, these movies might not be perfect for Dragons, mainly because of the characters’ personalities.
Seeing their constant conflict and the fact that they continuously make the same mistakes without learning is something that a Dragon wouldn’t enjoy.
