Part 3 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina dropped on Netflix in January, but there are still many questions left to be answered in the upcoming Part 4. The supernatural show has plenty of twists and horror -filled shocks to be worthy of its title, but the cast is full of laughs behind the scenes.
Jaz Sinclair and Lachlan Watson, who play Sabrina’s best friends, sat down with Screen Rant to chat about how Part 4 will handle everything from egg magic to Lilith’s baby – not to mention how they feel about the development of their respective romances.
This season is pretty mind blowing.
Lachlan Watson: It’s a little zany.
Jaz Sinclair: Word of the day.
It gets really dark really quick. Did you expect the story of Sabrina, or even the story in general, to go where it went?
Lachlan Watson: No. No, not at all.
Jaz Sinclair: No, every single episode I’m like, “What? We’re doing what?! We speak Spanish now?” It’s wild.
Lachlan Watson: They tell us nothing. It’s amazing. I’ve started to – because we do table reads for every episode, which is one of my favorite parts of this show because I’m a little theater nerd. I come from theater. I come from Shakespeare, where the table read is the most fun thing. And so, I’ll read my pieces and get prepared, but I’ll stop reading the full script. So, I’m just at the table read, like, “What?!”
It’s so exciting, because then I get to be like an audience member.
Jaz Sinclair: And you get to hear the actors read it to you for the first time.
Lachlan Watson: It’s so incredible. It’s really, really fun. I feel like the biggest fan we have, where I just get to watch Michelle and Miranda just be incredible. Just watching in real time, it’s such a privilege.
I want to talk a little bit about Rosalind’s relationship with Harvey. It gets a little complicated…
Jaz Sinclair: It does, doesn’t it? I’m trying to remember what happens. Oh, yeah! That is Part 3. I forgot about all that.
Talk to me about playing off that, and where do you think things are going?
Jaz Sinclair: Well, I really, really loved how they wrote those scenes, and how Roz and Harvey’s relationship has developed and has deepened over time. And how they are honest with each other, and that Harvey does struggle with the witch thing and then ultimately decides to accept Roz.
It’s really cool because that means that their relationship is founded on truth, which I think is a really good foundation. And also just the fear of losing each other comes in for both of them, which kind of makes them realize how actually important they are to each other, and it just makes the whole relationship feel deeper. I really, really loved that, and I legitimately forgot about that until you just mentioned it.
Lachlan Watson: It’s so cool. Well, we filmed that months ago – like half a year ago. Last Summer. So, it’s fun thinking back and digging up those cool moments.
Something else that was probably filmed a while ago too is the relationship with Robin.
Jaz Sinclair: Love it.
Lachlan Watson: Of course, it’s been – we’re still hanging in there. We’re still going strong; we get some we get some fun stuff to work with in Part 4. We get a little bit of drama here and there; little fun scenes to get to do. Because if it’s easy, it’s not fun.
Yeah, it’s been incredible. But it has taught me a lot. Me and Jonathan have been in this little fake relationship for a year now; we know each other so well. I’m like, “You don’t want that egg salad. You can’t eat that. You can have this bell pepper thing, and you can have this glass of water.” And he’s like, “Oh yeah, you’re right. I forgot.”
Okay, let’s put our fan speculation hats on, because I have some questions here for you. Talk to me about the egg creature that Father Blackwood hatched.
Jaz Sinclair: It’s a whole thing!
Lachlan Watson: It’s a whole moment.
Jaz Sinclair: We call that whole thing Part 4.
Lachlan Watson: Oh yeah, the egg becomes wild.
Will we see any effects from the time paradox that Sabrina created?
Lachlan Watson: Oh, so many effects.
Jaz Sinclair: Lots. She kind of messed everything up without realizing it.
Lachlan Watson: She sure does that a lot, though.
Jaz Sinclair: She does. We love her…
Lachlan Watson: And then we end up coming along for the ride, helping clean everything up.
Jaz Sinclair: Yeah, we do. But she messed a lot of things up with that decision, and we clean a lot of it up in Part 4. Along with the egg magic, which we will find out a lot more about.
Lachlan Watson: Which I never thought that I’d be saying the words “egg magic,” but I’m very excited about it.
This is a speculation on what you think it is, but what will happen after Lilith gives birth speculation?
Jaz Sinclair: Speculation… The baby will take over the world!
Lachlan Watson: Yeah, I think the baby will turn purple, grow some horn. And like the little devil emoji, just be causing trouble.
And the crazy thing is, on this show, it probably is gonna happen.
Lachlan Watson: It could!
Jaz Sinclair: Everything that we just said is true.
Lachlan Watson: Yeah, the baby turns purple. Sabrina turns purple; we all turn purple. We all choose an emoji and become that. It’s very metaphysical.
Jaz Sinclair: It’s so dramatic.
Well, I can’t wait for Part 4 now. You guys got me hooked.
Jaz Sinclair: Yeah, it’s honestly really, really exciting. I’m pumped for people to see it.
