Despite its macabre tendencies, the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (a companion piece to The CW’s Riverdale) is an oddly beautiful triumph of television. The main character, half-witch, half-human teenager Sabrina Spellman, has earned an impressive fan following with the show’s viewers.
Cosplayers have been quick to jump on the bandwagon and show off their own interpretations of the character, and we’ve selected ten of the very best to appear in this article. Fidly Immanda Azzahra
Indonesian singer Fidley Immanda Azzahra (also known as Fia) tried her hand at a Sabrina cosplay, and she totally rocked it — though perhaps that’s not too surprising considering her job is as a performer.
The hair, outfit, and even Sabrina’s signature pendant have all been faithfully rendered, adding to the cosplay’s spectacular effect. It’s clear that Fia is a huge fan of the show and respects the character enough to want to get her design just right.
Luxlocosplay
Luxlocosplay plays the part of Sabrina to bewitching effect in this magnificent cosplay, surrounding herself with a batch of witchcraft-related materials, from books to candles. Her outfit is entirely on point and the hair is a chillingly accurate match to Sabrina’s own.
Toronto-based photographer Dream Lifestyle Photographer adds to the glamour with a perfect shot that turns the style dial up to 11.
Beloved_cosplay
Beloved_cosplay uses visual effects to her advantage in this marvelous Sabrina cosplay, adding in a smoky effect and even incorporating Sabrina’s cat, Salem, through the use of Photoshop. Aside from those additions, the cosplay itself is incredible in and of itself.
Wearing her signature outfit and holding a Malum Malus, the cosplayer is basically interchangeable with the show’s star Kiernan Shipka.
Sayuri Cosplay
Sayuri Cosplay dons Sabrina’s cheerleader outfit to oversee a picturesque cosplay that puts together everything fans love about the character’s personality — her passions, her poise, her secrets — and still manages to get her appearance right too, down to the piercing smile and memorable hairstyle.
Photographer and self-proclaimed “full-time dreamer” Antony Gomes puts the finishing touches on a spectacular effort.
KayleyMarieCosplay
KayleyMarieCosplay goes the extra mile with her Sabrina cosplay by having a real cat be her Salem, proving the lengths cosplayers are willing to go to stay true to their character. She’s already got the outfit down and the hair is structured just right, but that extra bit of effort is what pushes her ahead of the finish line.
Full props to photographer Miguel M. for getting a perfect picture of the moment. Professional cosplay just wouldn’t exist without that sort of effort.
Ev_Rah
One half of cosplay duo Ev_Rah is Sabrina for this excellent cosplay that proves the devil really is in the details, from Sabrina’s crown of thorns to the Book of The Beast (which was provided by cosplayer Koni_cosplay).
Of course, the cosplayer does an excellent job of maintaining center stage amidst such excellent props, mostly because she’s a dead ringer for Sabrina herself. Antony Gomes did the photography for this cosplay as well, and as the cosplayer says, he “kills the colors and light game.”
AlsoAshleyB
It’s great to see extra details from the show pop up in Sabrina cosplays because it shows that the cosplayers are actually fans and not just people trying to profit off its success.
In this case, it’s a Malum Malus (which means “evil apple” in Latin, by the way) that AlsoAshleyB added to truly set her cosplay apart from others. She also gets the rest of the design exactly right, rocking an ineffable rendition of Sabrina’s hairstyle and proudly wearing one of the character’s most recognizable outfits.
Forsakenwitchery
Forsakenwitchery is great as Sabrina, getting the character’s demeanor, hair, and outfit exactly on point (right down to the lace collar). She also did the photography herself, which is impressive considering how vibrant and stylized it is.
But what really takes this cosplay to the next level is the addition of Nick, who’s brought to life by the striking @i_wantobelieve42.
OMGCosplay
OMGCosplay hits the nail on the head with this cosplay of Sabrina, which magnificently captures the character’s shy but impulsive demeanor.
The vibrant red of her dress ends up creating an excellent contrast with the rest of the image that gives it a distinctly devilish look, and again, OMGCosplay herself is fully tuned-in to the role she has to play.
Wanderlosttraveller
Wanderlosttraveler fits perfectly into the role of Sabrina, absorbing all the character’s enchantment and charisma to create this superb cosplay.
The photography by j.a.vilches adds jazziness and depth, and the makeup by ashlypaints looks just as good as the show. Everything else is to the cosplayer’s credit, as she does a truly admirable job of transforming herself into one of television’s most intriguing characters.
