Chicago Fire Season 12 Set Photos Seemingly Spoil Mouch’s Fate After Season 11 Finale Cliffhanger

A Chicago Fire season 12 behind-the-scenes image appears to spoil what happens to Mouch after he almost dies in the season 11 finale. The One Chicago cast and crew are back on the set to work on the much-delayed episodes of the beloved Dick Wolf TV franchise. So, while NBC and Wolf Entertainment have yet to reveal any official footage of what comes to Chicago’s finest civil servants, content from the set offers an idea of what to expect when the shows return.

Despite the grainy quality of the photo, Mouch is seen sitting behind the Firehouse 51 ambulance with Cruz and Hermann. Although it’s unclear what’s happening in this scene, the fact that Christian Stolte is suited back up means that Mouch will survive his injury.

Why Mouch Surviving Is Extremely Important To Chicago Fire Season 12

For context, Mouch was shot while on duty during the Chicago Fire season 11 finale. Firehouse 51 was called into a plant fire that was being intentionally set to go off by some domestic terrorists. It wasn’t until the perpetrators were arrested, that Hermann realized that Mouch was shot and bleeding profusely. They were able to get him into Chicago Med right in time, but there seemed to be some complications when he started coughing blood, leaving everyone worried about whether he would survive. Considering One Chicago’s penchant for unexpected deaths, there were concerns that it was the end for Firehouse 51’s veteran member.

Mouch surviving his gunshot wound is a welcome development for Chicago Fire season 12. As someone who devoted the majority of his life to service, he deserves a good retirement. Beyond his personal arc, however, Firehouse 51 needs him now more than ever as it faces losing a couple of brilliant personnel. As previously reported, Kara Killmer is set to wrap up her stint as Sylvie Brett some time in the show’s upcoming year. Meanwhile, Alberto Rosende recently confirmed that he has decided to exit One Chicago as Blake Gallo in the season 12 premiere. How both of them will be written out is still unclear.

Amid its delay, Chicago Fire finally gets an update on Taylor Kinney’s status, which effectively resolves a big cliffhanger in the season 11 finale.

Chief Boden’s team will have to navigate the majority of the new year undermanned and perhaps still reeling from losing both Gallo and Brett. It would be too devastating if they also lost Mouch to an unexpected injury. At least now, this set image somehow guarantees his return to form in Chicago Fire season 12.
