Sideshow Toys has unveiled an impressive new Batman statue. Sculpted by Prime 1 Studio, the new figure is modeled on artist Jim Lee’s designs for the 2002-2003 Hush story-arc, which is widely considered to be one of the best-drawn Batman stories of all time.

Jim Lee first achieved fame with his work on various titles at Marvel Comics and still holds the record for Highest-Selling Comic-Book of all time for his work on X-Men #1 according to the Guinness Book of World Records’. Lee later went on to become one of the so-called Image Seven – the seven artists who abandoned Marvel to found their own independent comic publishing company, Image Comics. Lee created several hit series, including WildC.A.T.s and Gen-13, through his Wildstorm Studios imprint, which he sold to DC Comics in 1998 but ran as a separate studio until 2010. This coincided with Lee becoming co-Publisher of DC Comics, where he has acted as an artistic supervisor for the company as a whole in addition to publishing new artwork of his own.

Batman Jim Lee Hush Statue

Posed dramatically on a gargoyle with cape billowing in the wind, this Batman statue proves quite the imposing figure – no pun intended! The statue features two pairs of interchangeable hands – one pair gripping a rope with an attached grappling Batarang, the other featuring a clenched fist and grasped Batarang. Both versions of the statue also feature two different heads, but the Exclusive Edition statue also comes equipped with a third “smirk portrait” head.

Manufacturers and designers of action-figures and toys since 1994, Sideshow Toys began selling high-quality, limited edition figures for collectors in 1999 under the Sideshow Collectibles name. In addition to the Batman: Hush statue, Sideshow also recently announced plans for a Black Widow Premium Format Figure (modeled more on the character’s appearance in the comics rather than on actress Scarlett Johansson)a maquette based on Thanos from Infinity War and a new 1/6th scale model figure of popular Star Wars bounty hunter Boba Fett.

The Batman: Hush Collector’s Edition Statue and Exclusive Edition Statues are both available for pre-order on the Sideshow Toys website. The Collector’s statue sells for $959 and the Exclusive costs $1009. Both statues are slated for release sometime between May 2019 and July 2019.
