ChatGPT Has Made Its Way To Microblogging Thanks To Social App Koo

The rapidly growing microblogging platform Koo has announced a ChatGPT feature that will help users compose posts and do lots more using the AI-led tool. The technology has found its way to many popular social media sites, with Discord jumping on the bandwagon by converting its mascot into a conversational AI chatbot. Similarly, Snapchat launched a ChatGPT-powered chatbot called My AI, though access is exclusive to premium subscription holders for now.

While India-based Koo becomes the latest social media outlet to unveil a ChatGPT service, it claims to be the first microblogging provider to do so. Koo says that by integrating ChatGPT with its services, “creators will be able to leverage the power of AI to help draft their Koos.” Aside from being allowed to “compose and draft posts using ChatGPT,” they’ll also utilize the generative AI to perform tasks like locating the day’s top stories or requesting a quote from a public figure. It doesn’t end there. Koo adds that creators can ask the AI to write a blog about a particular issue within the draft section. Users can share writing prompts with ChatGPT through either text or Koo’s voice command feature.

How Does Koo Work?

Available on both Android and iOS, the Koo app’s logo contains a bird reminiscent of Twitter, the platform it competes with. Users can draft and send “Koos,” which may be text, audio, photos, GIFs, or a video. They can also repost Koos published by fellow users by “Re-Kooing” the content. Similar to Twitter, Koo allows the use of @ and # to mention people or trending topics, and have a 500-character limit. Koos can be shared on other platforms using SMS, email, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Koo currently has over 60 million downloads and is available in more than a hundred countries.

Even with Koo’s entry in 2020, Twitter continues to dominate the microblogging scene. However, the app’s popularity has grown, and its second place isn’t too far behind now. Multilingual blogging is a big selling point for the platform. Koo allows people to communicate in more than 20 languages, including Hindi, English, French, and Indonesian. What’s most interesting about Koo’s multilingual capabilities is that not only can users share thoughts in multiple languages, but the site’s translation feature lets viewers to browse content in their preferred language.

In Koo’s announcement, co-founder Mayank Bidawatka said, “We are always looking for ways to make content creation easy for our users and the integration with ChatGPT will provide creators with intelligent help at their fingertips.” Bidawatka’s judgment of ChatGPT’s potential isn’t wrong, as the innovation continues to fast-track change for businesses and individuals. Last month, Microsoft unveiled a Teams Premium service bundled with ChatGPT, which it claimed would optimize productivity. Regarding the availability of its new AI-led feature, Koo says verified profiles can already access it and promises a wide release soon.
