Cellphone Horror Movie Trailer Turns Phones Into Nightmare Fuel

Cellphone is a new horror movie from Gravitas Ventures that turns one of the world’s most ubiquitous pieces of technology into something to fear. The movie was directed by Luke Sommer and written by Rachel Sommer, and is the feature debut of both filmmakers. Cellphone stars Whitney Rose Pynn (Aquarius), Justin Malik Jackson (Frat House: A College Party Movie), and Jared Noble (Precognito), and features Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Son of a Critch).

Screen Rant is excited to exclusively debut the official trailer for Cellphone in advance of the movie’s February release. The horror movie is currently set to come out on February 13, and the trailer is a perfect introduction to its characters as well as a primer for its tone and unsettling happenings. Take a look below:

More About Cellphone

The official synopsis for Cellphone centers around Wynne (Pynn), a woman grieving the death of her fiancé (Noble). Amid her grief, her phone begins showing her disturbing images relating to her future. She must discover the meaning behind the images before the forces behind them take a fatal toll. Unsettling images are indeed on display in the trailer, as is a hint of the harrowing emotional journey Wynne experiences throughout the movie. The strong premise should make it a valuable addition to 2024’s growing horror repertoire.

The feature-length version of Cellphone has had a long journey to the screen. Filmmakers Luke and Rachel Sommer wrote and directed a short film, Cell Phone, which was completed in 2012. That short even features one of the feature film’s actors, with Jackson playing the role of Chris. The short boasts a similar story with clear differences. In the short, Wynne and her friend Farren come across a strange cellphone stuck in camera mode on a hike. As in the full-length version, that phone shows images of the friends’ futures. It will be fascinating to see how the final story of Cellphone lines up with that of its earlier iteration.
