Celebrate Deadpool’s 30th Anniversary with Live Virtual Event

In honor of Deadpool‘s 30th anniversary, Marvel will be hosting a Deadpool Nerdy Thirty Virtual Event as part of their year-long celebration. The “Merc with a Mouth” has been around since 1991 when he first appeared in The New Mutant #98, a creation from the minds of Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza. His 30th anniversary will be celebrated by Marvel throughout the year 2021.

Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, attained his regenerative powers that made him virtually unkillable after being a guinea pig for the Weapon X program. He would go on to develop a wild personality full of pop culture references and fourth-wall-breaking antics while performing his mercenary duties. Through the decades he has oscillated between being a hero, a villain, and everything in-between, serving as a member of X-Force and the Thunderbolts as well as crediting himself as a member of the X-Men and the Avengers. Dubbed the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool has become a fan-favorite. His first movie became the highest-grossing R-rated comic book movie of all time.

In Marvel’s official announcement, the first event to celebrate Deadpool’s 30th anniversary will be the Deadpool Nerdy Thirty Virtual Event on February 25 at 7 p.m. ET. The event is said to be “a chance to go inside the madcap mind of Wade Wilson….” It will feature Deadpool’s creators and other comic legends, including Rob Liefeld, Fabian Nicieza, Ed McGuinness, Joe Kelly, Gail Simone, Daniel Way, Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn, and Mike Hawthorne. Many of these creators were also brought back for the special Deadpool Nerdy 30 #1, a commemorative issue coming out on March 10, 2021. The Deadpool Nerdy Thirty Virtual Event will have behind-the-scenes stories and exclusive Deadpool merch. This live event will be free for Marvel Unlimited Annual Plus members, and non-member can buy limited $20 tickets on ShowClix.

Celebrate Deadpool’s 30th Anniversary with Live Virtual Event

This is only the start of what sounds like a fun year for Deadpool with more announcements promised in time for the “April prank season.” There will definitely be new Deadpool Funko Pops in addition to the numerous Funkos of Deadpool already available and home décor featuring the mercenary coming from Jay Franco and BoxLunch. There will also be A Cooking With Deadpool cookbook (and it would be a travesty if they do not include his pancake recipe) and Hasbro’s Marvel Legends: Deadpool’s Interactive Head, which includes over 600 SFX and phrases to annoy your friends and family with.

Fans can follow along with the event regardless of their membership status by using the hashtag #DeadpoolNerdy30. But don’t forget about the Deadpool Nerdy Thirty Virtual Event on February 25. All this while we continue to anxiously wait for Deadpool 3, the first of Wade’s films to take place in the MCU rather than the X-Men Universe while maintaining its R-rating.
