CBS has set premiere dates for 10 scripted series from its fall lineup, including for Young Sheldon and Mom. The shows which were originally poised to launch during September and October will now launch in November. Earlier, due to the Covid-19 induced production shutdown, CBS had wiped off its original fall schedule, plugging the holes with unscripted reality TV (Big Brother, Undercover Boss) and scripted reruns (Manhunt: Deadly Games, CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Discovery, Pop’s One Day At a Time). But last month, several returning and new CBS shows commenced production and filmed multiple episodes making themselves available for launch. In the wake of the unreliable Covid-19 situation, however, there can be unforeseen closures. Therefore, CBS has obtained a cushion of several episodes from its upcoming shows in order to ensure smooth broadcast.
On Tuesday, CBS TV announced the first air dates of 10 scripted series. Of them, 9 are returning series – Young Sheldon, Mom, The Neighborhood, Bob Hearts Abishola, All Rise, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans. S.W.A.T., NCIS – while there is only one new show, B Positive, an American sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Marco Pennette, based on Pennette’s own transplant experience.
The 2020-2021 fall release calendar for CBS is as follows:
Thursday, Nov. 5
8-8:30 PM — Young Sheldon season 4 (premiere)
8:30-9 PM — B Positive season 1 (series premiere)
9-9:30 PM — Mom season 8 (Anna Faris-less season premiere)

7:30-8:30 PM, ET/7-8 PM, PT — 60 Minutes
8:30-9:30 PM, ET/8-9 PM, PT — NCIS: Los Angeles season 12 (premiere)
9:30-10:30 PM, ET/9-10 PM, PT — NCIS: New Orleans season 7 (premiere)
10:30-11:30 PM, ET/10-11 PM, PT — NCIS (rerun of fan-favorite episodes from entire series)
Wednesday, Nov. 11
8-9 PM — The Amazing Race
9-11 PM — S.W.A.T. season 4 (2-hour premiere)

8-8:30 PM — The Neighborhood season 3 (premiere)
8:30-9 PM — Bob ♥ Abishola season 2 (premiere)

The aforementioned shows are not the only CBS shows that are currently in production. Some shows on the network have commenced filming recently, and it appears that they’ll be added to the schedule once they prepare a sizeable bank of episodes. Scripted reruns have arguably not worked in the favor of CBS, which is evident by the low premiere ratings One Day At A Time season 4 drew on Monday. The return of the original fall shows to the network will give it a viewership boost, salvaging it from the economic losses transpired by the coronavirus. CBS has additionally ensured that its fall lineup does not disrupt the number of eyeballs it’s currently fetching. Big Brother and One Day At A Time will have ended once the new shows air, and the telecast of Manhunt, Star Trek: Discovery, and Undercover Boss will remain undisturbed.
