Cast Of Disney Animated Series Hamster & Gretel Revealed [EXCLUSIVE]

Screen Rant is absolutely thrilled to exclusively reveal the voice cast of Hamster & Gretel, Disney Channel’s upcoming animated superhero comedy series.  The new project, joining a summer full of recent superpowered shows like Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion as well as The Villains of Valley View, stems from the brilliant mind of Phineas and Ferb creator Dan Povenmire.

Not content with having left his indelible mark on Disney television with Phineas and Ferb, Povenmire followed that show up with another fan-favorite: Milo Murphy’s Law. While set in the same universe as its predecessor, the more recent series followed a entirely new character and starred none other than “Weird Al” Yankovic. That alone proves that casting can be a wild ride when dealing with a Povenmire story, and the synopsis only further emphasizes how fun things are going to get.

Hamster & Gretel, which Screen Rant can now reveal the cast of on Disney’s behalf, released a sneak peek last week introduced the concept to the world. Filled with music much like Phineas & FerbHamster & Gretel centers on Kevin and his younger sister Gretel, who are bestowed super powers by mysterious space aliens. But due to a terrible batch of bad luck that seems to follow Kevin wherever he goes, it’s Gretel and her pet hamster (conveniently named Hamster) who receive the new abilities instead. Relegated to protective older brother duties, Kevin must learn how to help Gretel and Hamster keep their city safe while keeping themselves safe as well.

Hamster and Gretel Cast 2

Meli Povenmire, who has previously shown an affinity for comedic performance, has been cast in the titular role of Gretel.

Hamsel & Gretel will also star Michael Cimino (fresh off the final season of Love, Victor, which premieres June 15) as Gretel’s older brother Kevin and Beck Bennett (from Saturday Night Live) as everyone’s favorite talking pet hamster.

Talented rising star Joey King (from Netflix’s Kissing Booth franchise) portrays their tech-savvy cousin Fred. Rounding out the super family is Matt Jones (Bob Hearts Abishola), who plays the siblings’ easygoing father, Dave; and Carolina Ravassa (Maya and the Three) as their charismatic mother, Carolina.

Having been inspired by creator Povenmire’s own dynamic with his significantly younger sister, Hamster & Gretel seems poised to hit just the right blend of heart and humor that made the Emmy award-winning Phineas & Ferb such a long-standing classic. Brandi Young, who previously worked on not only Milo Murphy’s Law but also Family Guy, serves as producer. Joanna Hausmann will serve as co-producer and story editor, while Dorothea Gerassimova is the art director.

Hamster & Gretel will premiere this summer on Disney Channel.
