Capcom’s Old Tweets Have Resurfaced And They’re Hilarious

Old tweets from the popular video game company Capcom have suddenly been making the rounds around the internet – and they are so bizarre it’ll make any viewer’s head scratch. While it’s normal for video game production companies to have Twitter pages as well as brands, some of these tweets seem less than brand-friendly – however, none have come up that are offensive in any way, only harmless fun.

Capcom has been around for more than 40 years, creating some of the video game world’s most popular franchises, such as Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter – just to name a few. While they are quite known for the uniqueness of their games and the different worlds players get to explore all the time, the topic of Tweets was something that was never on the table for the company – until now, that is.

Recently, old tweets have resurfaced of the company, under the username @CapcomUSA_ (via Game Rant). One of the stranger ones that the company put out a long time ago said “mmm. urinal cakes are cinnamon-flavored. I mean scented. Scented!” which was posted on February 24, 2006. Another tweet that’s been shared around was “Gamestop managers are a gloriously unruly bunch,” which was posted in 2008 on September 9. What’s even funnier is that these tweets are still around and no one in the company has yet to delete them, even if they’ve gone viral over the last couple of days. But, that could be because these aren’t necessarily bad tweets – only jokes that don’t seem to harm anyone. It’s possible that Capcom might leave them up without the hassle of taking them down.

A possibility as to why these tweets might even be up is that maybe someone else had the Capcom username before the official company did and they never bothered to remove the tweets. Or the person at the time who could have been taking care of the social media page might have favored those types of jokes over a more “professional” tone, despite some companies actually favoring that unprofessional voice. Either way, that’s usually not how Capcom uses its Twitter page now, which puts out the standard posts that promote their games, so maybe deleting the tweets might be in their favor. Capcom hasn’t responded yet to the tweets, but if they keep getting the attention that they are getting, it might only be a matter of time before Capcom decides enough is enough and deletes them.

Capcom is currently working on multiple different games and deals, such as a new Resident Evil game as well as a new Monster Hunter game that will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch as well as PC in the new year. And not only that, but it seems that the next four years of games have been leaked as well, so it’s not like the company isn’t keeping busy. Whether these tweets will affect the reception of those games or not remains unseen, but at least while the posts are up, they remain extremely funny.
