Call of Duty Zombies Glitch Pulls Player Into the Escort Rover

A new glitch has appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War‘s Zombies in which a player was pulled into the escort rover during a match. The Call of Duty franchise has seen its fair share of frustrating and amusing glitches, with one of the more recent ones being the infamous stim glitch in Call of Duty: Warzone.

Escort was a new mode added to Black Ops Cold War as part of the game’s second season Outbreak Zombies update. The mode’s objective has players protect a moving object from swarming zombie attacks as it moves between three different portals. That object is an Aether Rover and for it to continue moving the players defending it must stay nearby. One player, however, recently became the victim of a glitch that kept them a little too close to the rover.

Reddit user Angel_0136 was in the midst of a chaotic firefight when a mimic grabbed them from a distance and pulled them in for a bite attack. In the short second that Angel_0136 flew through the air, however, the mimic was seemingly killed by fellow teammates and the unfortunate player ended up zipping directly into the rover, which the mimic had been standing in front of before it disappeared. Instead of stopping outside the vehicle, Angel_0136 somehow ended up inside it and was unable to leave for over a full minute. The only saving grace came when the Aether Rover reached a portal and disappeared, setting Angel_0136 free.

Unlike some other notable Call of Duty glitches, this one appeared to be a total accident. That said, Angel_0136’s experience seems like it would be a fairly it would be a fairly useful glitch. As long as a player stays near the rover, it will continue to move and one cannot get any closer than actually being inside of it. There is the possibility, however, that the rover will not recognize a player that has glitched inside and it was not clear from Angel_0136’s video if that was the case.

Small, unlikely glitches like this are much more amusing than frustrating. They are not game-breaking or give rise to a certain, undesired gameplay style the way the stim glitch has in Warzone. It only came about because of a strange set of circumstances and the result was thoroughly entertaining. There is little chance that other Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies players will be able to recreate Angel_0136’s experience. It truly seems like one of a kind.
