Call of Duty: Mobile Getting Zombies Mode and Controller Support

Call of Duty: Mobile Getting Zombies Mode and Controller Support

Call of Duty: Mobile will receive a substantial update soon, one which adds requested features players have been asking for. The free-to-play mobile game was the first to reintroduce the classic Modern Warfare gameplay the series was originally known for on phones, with some minor tweaks like operator skills and score-streaks. It also served as a celebration of the franchise, as the game brought back famous maps from previous titles along with fan-favorite modes like Gun Game from Black Ops.

Call of Duty: Mobile was quite a success for Activision. Before the game’s global release, COD: Mobile attracted a lot of attention, especially in China where it had over 13 million pre-registrations. Besides being a return to a familiar formula for old-school fans, it also sported a Call of Duty Battle Royale mode, which implemented gameplay elements originally introduced in Black Ops 4‘s Blackout mode.

As reported by IGNCall of Duty: Mobile’s latest update will introduce controller support and the previously teased “Zombies” mode. The update will release in various countries at different hours to account for the many time zones. For example, residents in Los Angeles will receive the update at 9:00 P.M. PST on November 22nd, with Tokyo getting it at 2:00 P.M. JST November 23rd. New multiplayer maps will also be added, with the game’s battle pass expected to arrive on November 25th.

Call of Duty: Mobile Getting Zombies Mode and Controller Support

For those who don’t know, Zombies is a survival game mode where the player survives against hordes of undead monsters for as long as they can. It was first introduced in Call of Duty: World at War and quickly grew in popularity. Zombies has been one of the title’s most anticipated modes, so it will be interesting to see how effective it is in bringing back Call of Duty: Mobile‘s player base. The addition of controller support is also a positive and will be complemented by the game’s extensive control settings. It was one of the key features that was glaringly missing upon the game’s initial launch, especially when other mobile titles already have this option available.

However, Call of Duty: Mobile isn’t the first time a Call of Duty Zombies Mode has make its way to smartphones. There was a dedicated mobile game specifically focused on this mode which had previously been available, although it was just a downgraded port of World at War‘s version. This is a pretty hefty update and should bring COD: Mobile players back into the game if they have been taking a break. For interested players who have not yet checked it out, Call of Duty: Mobile is available now for both iOS and Android devices.
