Brooklyn Nine-Nine has made the move to NBC for season 6, and even though new episodes won’t hit television screens until next year, the cast has taken to social media as a reminder the show is definitely coming back. There was a lot of drama surrounding the feel-good comedy as it was unceremoniously canceled by FOX before the end of its fifth season. Thankfully, following a now almost obligatory fan campaign to save the show, and some behind the scenes wheeling and dealing, the cops of the Nine-Nine are headed to the peacock network, presumably for more than one season.
With the series not set to make its NBC debut until sometime in 2019, stars Andy Samberg, Melissa Fumero, Terry Crews, Joe Lo Truglio, Stephanie Beatriz, Chelsea Peretti, and, of course, Andre Braugher aren’t on the same shooting schedule as all the shows with premiere dates in the coming weeks and months. But a little scheduling difference wasn’t enough to keep the cast from sharing the fact that filming has finally begun, somehow making the wait for new episodes even more taxing than it already is.

The images were shared via @thelonleyisland Twitter account, and they show Samberg mugging for the camera along with Beatriz and Peretti in one photo, which is then followed up with Samberg, Crews, and Fumero in another. Check out the images below:
The series’ move to a new network promises to offer more than just a great TV show getting a shot at another season. It also presumably means that viewers will get to learn of Capt. Holt’s future, as the season ended with a cliffhanger that declined to reveal whether he’ll be the next commissioner or not. With a huge promotion for Holt on the line, the 99th precinct could be looking at some major changes when the series returns.
Regardless the potential changes in the show’s status quo, it will be interesting to see whether or not the series’ viewership increases in the wake of a near cancelation, and now that it’s on a new network. NBC recently saw that saving its own show, Timeless, from cancelation and moving it to a new night didn’t do much to help its ratings, so all eyes will be on the cops of the Nine-Nine when it finally returns next year.
