Brendan Fraser Heaps Praise On EEAAO Stars Michelle Yeoh & Ke-Huy Quan

Everything Everywhere All At Once stars Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan are celebrated by Brendan Fraser. Released in March of this year, Everything Everywhere All At Once has become a global phenomenon, earning the title of studio A24’s highest-grossing film. The multiversal romp was co-directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert and stars Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Stephanie Hsu as a Chinese-American family with a complicated dynamic. A wild film that spans multiple genres, the moving film has earned plenty of acclaim since its debut for its performances, writing, directing, and creativity.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Fraser revealed his reaction to the hit film Everything Everywhere All At Once, expressing his deep appreciation for the movie and praising stars Yeoh and Quan. Fraser previously shared the screen with Yeoh in 2008 film The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and reunited with the actor recently during this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. In addition, Fraser recalled recognizing Quan, who had a role in the Fraser-led 1992 comedy movie Encino Man, as the leading man in Everything Everywhere All At Once and stated his admiration for the star. See Fraser’s touching comments below:

“I saw Everything Everywhere All at Once, and I was like, ‘This is the most awesome movie that’s ever been made.’ I love this picture. I love Michelle [Yeoh] in this; she’s an old friend, and [when I saw it] I went, hang on, I know him. His name wasn’t Ke in the days that I knew him, for reasons we just don’t abide by any longer. Some agent told him that no one would understand [the name] or whatever. We don’t get to do that anymore. He is who he is. The journey that he’s taken to come to this place has given him, I think, the role of his lifetime, and he’s given the performance of his lifetime, and in many ways, I, like him, feel the same way. We gave it everything we had. We’re both like, ‘We’re still here, man! We’re still here.'”

EEAAO Has Earned Praise From Many Other Stars

Fraser is not the only Hollywood star that didn’t appear in Everything Everywhere All At Once to promote the film, with Andrew Garfield wearing the iconic hot dog fingers from the movie and speaking often about his appreciation for it. In addition, The Matrix director Lily Wachowski described the film as “super nourishing,” and Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson referred to the movie as an “absolute masterpiece.” Given its unique creative nature and mass appeal, Everything Everywhere All At Once and its stars are slated as contenders for this year’s awards season.

Fraser Has Also Earned Acclaim For New Movie

Another film making the rounds on the awards circuit is The Whale, which has been hailed as Fraser’s comeback to leading roles after many years of smaller parts on television and film following a series of personal and professional obstacles. Directed by Darren Aronofsky, The Whale debuted in theaters to mixed reviews, though praise for Fraser’s role in the film has been largely universal. Critics and fans of the film alike have praised the actor’s humanity in the role of his character Charlie, and similar to Everything Everywhere All At Once, many major players in the industry, including Dwayne Johnson and Sarah Michelle Gellar, have been vocal about their appreciation for Fraser after seeing the film.

The kinship Fraser expresses feeling with Quan makes sense, as both actors took some time away from the spotlight before coming back into leading roles, though in Quan’s case his acting hiatus was over three decades long. Now, both actors are on the awards circuit as their performances in their respective films have been held up as Academy Award-worthy. Despite the mixed reviews for The Whale, it’s possible that Fraser’s nuanced performance will be enough to earn him a win, though his sweet comments make it clear that he won’t mind if Quan beats him to it for his role as Waymond in Everything Everywhere All At Once.
