Breaking Bad Sequel Poster Imagines Walter Jr. Becoming Heisenberg

Breaking Bad gets a sequel show in a new poster art that imagines Walter Jr. becoming Heisenberg. Released in 2008, Vince Gilligan’s acclaimed crime drama series follows Bryan Cranston’s Walter White as he transforms from a downtrodden chemistry teacher to one of New Mexico’s most notorious drug lords. RJ Mitte plays a prominent role in the Breaking Bad cast as Walter Jr., and the show’s 5 seasons feature the father and son frequently at odds as Cranston’s character alienates and manipulates those close to him.

In new poster art shared by Kid Named Ginger on Instagram, Walter Jr. is imagined following in his father’s footsteps and becoming a Heisenberg-like drug lord. Check out the art below:

Dubbed “Return of Flynn,” the name that Walter Jr. takes on to differentiate himself from his father, Mitte’s character is shown in the art with a shaved head reminiscent of Walt’s appearance. Aaron Paul’s Jesse Pinkman also features in the art, as does an aged version of Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman.

Should Walter Jr. Get His Own Breaking Bad Spinoff Show?

Why RJ Mitte’s Character Probably Shouldn’t Return

Anna Gunn as Skyler and RJ Mitte as Walt Jr in Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad is widely considered one of the best shows of all time, telling an immensely satisfying story over the course of its 5 seasons. The Breaking Bad finale wraps Walt’s dynamic with his family in a fairly definitive way, with Walter Jr. clearly expressing that he wants nothing to do with his father ever again after the murder of Hank (Dean Norris). Living under the name Flynn, the series ends the White family dynamic with Walter Jr. and Skyler (Anna Gunn) having cut ties with Cranston’s character and attempting to live normal lives.

While the crumbling of the White family isn’t exactly a happy ending, Walter Jr. and Skyler have seemingly found some measure of peace away from Walt. It’s likely that both characters, however, will have lasting trauma from Walt’s actions, with Walter Jr. having been especially affected due to only being a teenager as all of this was occurring. It’s not hard to imagine Walter Jr. potentially going down a darker path as a result of his father’s actions, but the events Breaking Bad‘s 5 seasons make the character seem deserving of a more happy ending.

Breaking Bad doesn’t directly set up any further stories for Walter Jr., but Gilligan has proven himself capable of further expanding the universe in satisfying ways. El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie and Better Call Saul were both exceptionally well-received, and both further enhanced characters who had been given satisfying endings in the mothership show. Despite the success of previous Breaking Bad spinoffs, it’s probably for the best that Walter Jr.’s story ends with season 5.
