Bravo’s Tiffany Moon & Crystal Kung Minkoff Use Platforms to Fight AAPI Hate

It has been a difficult week across the U.S. as the Asian-American community reels from the violent attack in Atlanta, Ga. Now, some reality television stars are speaking up and using their platforms to combat Asian-American Pacific Islander (AAPI) hate. Tiffany Moon from The Real Housewives of Dallas and Crystal Kung Minkoff from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are just two of the many celebrities who have said that they aren’t going to tolerate the racism that continues to plague the country.

Moon has notably become a fan favorite on The Real Housewives of Dallas for her sweet demeanor and desire to make sure that everyone gets along. Minkoff, who is married to Rob Minkoff, a writer, actor, producer, and director, is no stranger to Hollywood. That being said, she still has ground to cover, as she is one of the newest members of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Although the women come from two different backgrounds, it’s the recent rise in AAPI racism and hate that is now bringing them together.

Both Moon and Minkoff recently posted on their respective Instagram accounts in light of the situation in Atlanta this week. One post from Moon stated that she would not be silent during this critical time, and encouraged people to spread love rather than hate. It featured a Time magazine cover with a graphic of a presumably Asian-American woman. Minkoff, on the other hand, made a statement via her Instagram post addressing the situation in Atlanta and the climate in the U.S. in general. She stated that she is grieving and that she feels as if her heart has been ripped out of her chest. Minkoff encouraged everyone to take the time to mourn during this sensitive time.

Although both women are known as just housewives to their Bravo fans, it’s important to remember that at the end of the day, they are still real people. Moon and Minkoff have brought diversity to Bravo and their respective Real Housewives franchises, which was long overdue. Now is the time to stand alongside them as they grieve and ask for others to advocate for equality during this critical moment in history. While some may feel that it was unnecessary for the housewives to take a stance, there’s certainly no harm in celebrities using their platform for the greater good.
