Bravely Default 2: Every Job Class Announced So Far

As one of the most anticipated RPGs releasing in 2021, Bravely Default II is the next entry in Square Enix’s adored series. Following Bravely Default and Bravely Second: End Layer, Bravely Default 2 is a standalone game that expands on the systems found in previous installments. The series is perhaps best known for its job system, and Bravely Default 2 is already promising a lot of customizations and options for job classes. Here is every job class announced for the game so far.

A surprise demo of Bravely Default 2 dropped in March, and it showed off several job classes that would be in the full game. For anyone already familiar with the series, or with Square Enix’s Final Fantasy franchise, most of the jobs included in the demo were recognizable. Freelancer is the default class that’s been found in other RPGs made by the same Square Enix team, such as Final Fantasy III on the DS. Vanguard is more of a tank class that comes with heavy armor and shields. White Mage (a healer) and Black Mage (spellcasting DPS) are classes that reappeared in Bravely Default 2, and should be instantly recognizable to most Final Fantasy fans.

The other two jobs that were included in the demo were Thief and Monk, other long-standing jobs from Final Fantasy games. The Thief has the useful ability to steal from enemies, while the Monk is a melee class that’s perfect for dealing damage. The inclusion of these classes shouldn’t be too surprising, especially for those who’ve played a Bravely Default game before – or who’ve tried out its spiritual sibling, Octopath Traveler. And now, thanks to new info shared recently by Square Enix, even more job classes have been confirmed for Bravely Default 2.

The other Bravely Default 2 job classes confirmed are Berserker, a melee DPS class that uses axes, and Hunter, a ranged DPS class that uses bows. Shield Master, meanwhile, is a job that’s meant to protect allies and absorb damage. This means the job classes confirmed for Bravely Default 2 so far are:

  • Thief
  • Monk

  • Hunter
  • Beastmaster

Although it was first announced at The Game Awards in 2018 and planned for a 2020 release, Bravely Default II was delayed until 2021. For now, Bravely Default 2 is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, scheduled to drop on February 26th. More job classes will likely be in the full release of the game, but these are all of the ones confirmed so far.
