Boy Meets World Stars Re-Stage Classic Cast Photo for 25th Anniversary

To celebrate the popular 90s TGIF sitcom’s 25th anniversary, Boy Meets World’s four main stars reunited to re-stage a classic cast photo. Yes, as hard as it may be for some to believe, it’s been 25 years since ABC debuted the comedy, co-created by Michael Jacobs and April Kelly. The show’s focal character was Cory Matthews (Ben Savage), the boy of the title. Over time, several surrounding characters grew to be just as integral to the series, including Cory’s best friend Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong), his one true love Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fishel), and his older brother Eric (Will Friedle). Other series regulars would come and go, but those became the core four.

Boy Meets World would go on to run for seven seasons on ABC, producing over 150 episodes, and carving out a place in the hearts of many who grew up watching the show as part of the famous TGIF block. As with most long-running sitcoms, the characters changed a lot over the years, with Eric, for one, becoming a lot more noticeably stupid. Still, the same spirit remained, with Jacobs guiding the series for its entire tenure.

Savage, Strong, Fishel, and Friedle are all in attendance for this weekend’s Wizard World Chicago fan convention, and while there, took the opportunity to try and recreate a famous photo of the quartet from back in the Boy Meets World days. While they’re all obviously older, the group still clearly shares a close bond. Check out the photo – posted to Instagram by Fishel – below.

Of course, this isn’t the only time all four actors have been together since Boy Meets World signed off in 2000. In 2014, Disney Channel premiered a sequel series entitled Girl Meets World, which focused on Cory and Topanga’s daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard), and featured Savage and Fishel reprising their roles as series regulars. Co-creator Jacobs also returned as showrunner. Despite higher than average ratings, Girl Meets World was canceled after three seasons in early 2017, but not before Strong, Friedle, and the rest of the Boy Meets World cast popped in for a reunion or two. Even Shawn’s long-lost love interest Angela (Trina McGee-Davis) returned briefly.

Possibly the only thing that could make the above reunion photo more complete would be an appearance by William Daniels, who played the quartet’s neighbor, teacher and mentor Mr. Feeny. Then again, Daniels is 91-years-old, so it’s not surprising he’s not active on the convention scene. For those looking to get reacquainted with Boy Meets World, the entire 7-season run is currently available to stream on Hulu, which last year added multiple TGIF shows, including Full House, Family Matters, and Step by Step.
