Boruto’s New Best Ninja Team Will Make Fans Forget Team 7

Boruto’s New Best Ninja Team Will Make Fans Forget Team 7

While most fans expected Boruto to get star billing in his own title, many also believed that, like in Naruto, substantial attention would be given to other shinobi within his cohort. Indeed, the series started out in this manner, with a focus on Konoha’s “next gen” and Boruto as first among equals in Team 7. That time of togetherness was short-lived, however, as the story quickly turned its attention to the camaraderie and conflict between Boruto and Kawaki. Indeed, the next generation of shinobi was quickly hustled to the sidelines, and fans had to wait until Boruto: Two Blue Vortex to fix this.

With Boruto on the run, Mitsuki shadowing Kawaki, and Sarada dealing with all that comes with knowing that she’s not susceptible to Eida’s charms, Boruto’s former Team 7 is no longer the force it was at the beginning of the saga. However, this doesn’t imply that the village is free from any further threats it needs to guard against. Rather, it means that other teams must step up and fill the void.

As Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #9 made clear, Team 10 is the squad that’s unmistakably proven itself worthy of holding the village’s “A Team” status. Indeed, considering the threat that Jura and Hidari pose to the village, the team going into the fight without any prior understanding of the threat they are about to confront, the need to avoid civilian casualties, and the lack of support, they performed flawlessly. Their performance is even more impressive considering Jura’s and Hidari’s absurd power levels, and the fact that members of Team 10, Chocho Akimichi, Shikadai Nara, and Inojin Yamanaka, were operating without their leader, Moegi Kazamatsuri.

The calm effectiveness with which Team 10 got Himawari Uzumaki out of danger and away from the area of operation was quite a turn for the squad. Indeed, in the early parts of the saga, members of the teams were often depicted as comic relief. Their lighthearted portrayals in the story should not be mistaken for a lack of ability. Most teams have links to the prior generation, but in the case of Team 10, the links go back 17 generations. The longevity of connection between succeeding generations of the same team members gives Team 10 access to an ability no other team or opponent can possess, namely the Ino-Shika-Cho Formations.

Designed by their ancestors to take advantage of each member’s innate abilities, the formations give Team 10 a range of effective strategies that are hard to defend against when executed perfectly. When considering their performance in harm’s way, no one can deny how fundamentally strong Team 10 is as a squad. In addition, their inherited familial sense of harmony provides an awesome fail-safe ability that has proven the difference between success and defeat. Even Jura was impressed with how well they worked together without effort.

While Boruto‘s ending is far from clear, history says that whatever happens, there will still be a need for ninja teams – both as a form of security for the village and as a means of providing the services the community relies on to survive. While Team 7 has historically been among the most awe-inspiring, Team 10 has been its most stable – which is to say its history of continuous service has made it one of the village’s most accomplished.

The current Team 10’s performance in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is further proof that when Konoha is in need, while everyone might have hoped Naruto or Boruto would save them, Team 10 stepped up and, just like their parents and ancestors, got the job done.
