Boruto’s Key to Saving Konoha Might Be an Underappreciated Part 1 Character

With Boruto: Two Blue Vortex‘s new villains, the sentient God Trees, now in Konoha on the prowl for their targets, all hands are needed on deck to protect the village and ensure its safety and security from intruders, but the fate of the village may rest in the hands of a former enemy, Delta.

The four sentient God Trees – Jura, Hidari, Matsuri, and “Bug” – are among the most powerful beings Konoha has ever run up against. Born from the Ten-Tails Beast as mindless Claw Grime, the transformation into their present self-aware state began once they bit a victim. They subsequently transformed into mini God Trees that encased their victims and fed on their Chakra. At some point, a clone of the victim is produced that combines the power and Chakra reserves of the Ten-Tails, with the innate abilities of the victim.

The clones created from the mini God Trees are extremely powerful beings. In their debut appearance, not even the new and improved Boruto was a match for them. Later in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #8, Jura and Hidari travel to Konoha in search of Naruto and Sarada. Previously, they decided to “devour” them as a way of acknowledging their newfound sentient status.

Delta’s Presence Gives Konoha Hope to Survive

The Former Kara Inner Circle Went Toe to Toe With Naruto

While the absence of Sasuke, Naruto, and Boruto puts Konoha in a vulnerable position, the presence of one former enemy goes a long way to fill the vacuum. Chapter #8 also re-introduces Delta into the story. The former Kara Inner operative – who’s now working for Konoha security – is one of the most lethal fighters of the Next Generation. A clone of ninja tech master Amado Sanzu’s daughter Akebi, Delta is the perfect example of what happens when you combine innate combat skills with advanced scientific ninja tools and an ornery personality.

There’s no one currently on the frontline stronger than her. Delta’s cyborg body is the epitome of bleeding-edge technologies that mix human, mechanical, and bioengineered systems into one. Delta can transform her hands, feet, legs, and arms into weapons, shields, and other tools – like rocket jets – at will. Her sensory system can track invisible targets. Additionally, she can absorb any skill an opponent launches against her, and then use it against her attacker. This was best illustrated in her absorption and reuse of Naruto’s Resengan.

More impressively, she can instantaneously heal, which makes her nearly indestructible. Indeed, as revealed in Boruto: Naruto – Next Generations Chapter #32, even if an opponent destroys her body, her mind can be uploaded to another “skin”. Moreover, the new skin starts with all the real-time knowledge and intelligence that she acquired before the transfer began.

Delta Is a Fearless Fighter with Unknown Upgrades

Boruto's Delta threatens Naruto

Outside her physical and mechanical abilities, what makes Delta so dangerous – are her “intangibles”. First and foremost is her personality. While Delta seems more at peace with herself than during her early days with Kara, it’s still easy to upset her. Her irritability, however, has a benefit. During fights, it makes her fearless. When considering the condescending attitude that Jura and Hidari have toward their opponents, Delta is unlikely to be swayed by their mockery. It will just make her angrier and more lethal.

In addition, since coming over to Konoha, Amado has inputted several upgrades and advancements to her body that make her more powerful. Assuming Amado never wants to put his “daughter” in a vulnerable situation, he’s certainly given her more abilities than when she faced off against Naruto. Moreover, Amado can upgrade her on the fly or add changes based on real-time observation of her fights.

Indeed, with Delta’s advanced systems and upgradability and Amado’s mastery of ninja tech, there’s no limit to how powerful she could become. When combined with her brash personality, Delta becomes a major line of defense for a Konoha that now can’t count on Boruto, Naruto, or Kawaki. It could also be a chance for Boruto: Two Blue Vortex to put the spotlight on the character and make Delta more relevant in readers’ eyes.
