Bolt from the Blue is a misfit comedy from writer/director Jack Martin. Martin is a filmmaker whose work assisting on such movies as The Lion King, Godzilla vs Kong, and Pacific Rim Uprising have informed his own projects as a director, which include several short films and a web series titled My Friend D-Rone, which was produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. Bolt from the Blue stars Page Tudyk Gomez, Kevin Michael Martin, Veep’s Matt Walsh, The Office’s Kate Flannery, and more.

Ahead of the movie’s Austin Film Festival premiere on October 29, Screen Rant is excited to debut an exclusive clip from Bolt from the Blue.

The clip, as seen above, showcases Page Tudyk Gomez’s Mia Ibarra and Kevin Michael Martin’s Lucas, as Mia seeks out Lucas to scope out the man’s claim that lightning can be captured and turned into a new source of clean energy. Also featured in the clip are Lucas’ family, including Kate Flannery’s “Auntie” Amy Fletcher.

More About Bolt From The Blue

Bolt From The Blue Clip Introduces Sci-Fi Comedy’s Eccentric Cast Of Scientists [EXCLUSIVE]

Jack Martin’s Bolt from the Blue is a story about dreams, told through the different perspectives of its two main characters. In Mia Ibarra, Martin explores how dreams are tempered by the rollercoaster ride of everyday survival. Mia, once a dreamer, has slowly become more cynical as aspects of her life have not played out the way she expected. As seen in the clip above, Lucas has had a very different life experience, and the purity of his dreams is unblemished. Through the relationship between Mia and Lucas, Bolt from the Blue will discuss the importance of keeping dreams intact.

Bolt from the Blue is also a discussion about renewable energy, making it a relevant and timely piece of art. Even as it touches on global subjects, however, the quirky comedy firmly roots its themes in accessible humor that makes it suited for family audiences, as seen by the likes of Auntie Amy, played by beloved Office alum Kate Flannery. Touted by Jack Martin as an homage to ‘80s and ‘90s live-action family movies, Bolt from the Blue aims to have something for everyone.
