Bob’s Burgers Creator Promises Movie Will Release At Some Point

Bob’s Burgers creators promise a movie will release at some point. Created by Loren Bouchard, Bob’s Burgers broke into the adult animation world when it premiered on FOX in 2011. Regarded as one of the greatest animated series on the air, Bob’s Burgers follows the Belcher family, Patriarch Bob (H. Jon Benjamin), Linda (John Roberts), Tina (Dan Mintz), Gene (Eugene Mirman), and Louise (Kristen Schaal). Owners of the titular hamburger restaurant, the Belcher family navigate life in a small coastal town…and occasionally perform a musical number.

In 2017, fresh off of FOX renewing Bob’s Burgers for season 8, and the series picking up the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Series, 20th Century Fox announced Bob’s Burgers: The Movie would release in July 2020. At this point, animated competitor The Simpsons has already released feature films to massive success. Earlier this year, film and television productions came to an equally abrupt halt worldwide, amid coronavirus concerns. In an attempt to prevent further COVD-19 outbreaks, movie theaters shuttered all locations, causing release dates to be shuffled around the calendar. Despite the entertainment industry going dark, the team behind Bob’s Burgers continued to work remotely and revealed they would host a panel for Comic-Con@Home.

Featuring Bouchard, writer Nora Smith, producer Janelle Momary, Schaal, Murphy, Mintz, Benjamin, Roberts, and Miram, Bob’s Burgers Comic-Con@Home panel touched on upcoming episodes and the long-awaited film. Joking that the team should invest in a drive-in theater to exclusively premiere the film, Miram directs the question to Bouchard if Bob’s Burgers: The Movie is coming out. Bouchard replied, “Yeah, it’s absolutely coming out. I mean…it’ll come out. It’s gotta come out. We have to stop working on it at some point!” At this time, Bob’s Burger: The Movie is eyeing a release date of April 9, 2021.

Overall, the Bob’s Burgers Comic-Con@Home Panel featured hearty doses of good-natured banter between the voice cast members, clips from previous episodes, and nuggets of information about the upcoming season. Slated to premiere on FOX this fall, season 11 will include the 200th episode of the series, called “Bob Belcher and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Kids.” Additionally, season 11 will feature a special Halloween episode in which the kids finally get a glimpse at the inside of the hotel at the end of the street.

While it remains to be seen what lasting impacts the coronavirus will have on movie release dates, Comic-Con@Home has displayed the creative forces behind Bob’s Burgers have been hard at work. Recently, Bob’s Burgers released a short on YouTube, titled “Bored”, that shows what the Belchers have been up to in quarantine. While 2021 may feel like a long way off for fans who have already waited three years for Bob’s Burgers: The Movie – and the reveal of why Louise wears pink bunny ears – the upcoming season will provide lots of fresh misadventures, ridiculous plots, and deadpan delivery for viewers to soak up.
