Boba Fett Faces His Greatest Challenge in War of the Bounty Hunters

In Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters #2, fans will be treated to not only Boba Fett’s journey to get Han Solo back, but also see him teaming up with Doctor Aphra. The War of the Bounty Hunters has been billed as Marvel’s biggest Star Wars crossover event series. It takes place shortly after the events of The Empire Strikes Back, giving the infamous bounty hunter a chance to develop his character more before Return of the Jedi.

Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters will be a five-issue mini-series, but the event will span across several Star Wars ongoing titles, including Star WarsStar Wars: Bounty HuntersStar Wars: Darth Vader, and Star Wars: Doctor Aphra. There will also be a Jabba the Hutt one-shot tie-in comic that shows how he serves as the catalysts for the event. Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters is written by Charles Soule, who has worked on everything from Swamp Thing to Daredevil. Soule is a very popular Star Wars writer who is part of The High Republic publishing initiatives, which has encouraged diversity and representation within the Star Wars universe. For this event, he is working alongside artist Luke Ross, whose works include The Spectacular Spider-Man and Captain America.

The official Star Wars website covered Marvel’s July 2021 Star Wars comics, which included a reveal of the solicitation info for Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters #2 and the Steve McNiven cover. In this issue, Boba Fett is after his lost treasure, Han Solo’s frozen carbonite body, but so is everyone else. The cover and complete solicitation information for Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters #2 is reprinted below.

This issue will have an appearance from Doctor Aphra, a rogue archaeologist who used to work for Darth Vader. Doctor Aphra is a unique character in that she marks the first time that an original Star Wars character from Marvel Comics has led her own series, which will also have tie-in issues related to this event in addition to her impact in the main storyline itself.

It’s never been a better time to be a Boba Fett fan. After thinking he was needlessly killed off in Return of the Jedi, fans were recently delighted to learn during the second season of The Mandalorian that the legendary bounty hunter was back, setting up for his own future television show, The Book of Boba Fett. While fans wait for that Disney+ show, they can enjoy the Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters comic book saga. The second issue will be released in July 2021.
