Boba Fett Clip Reveals Context For Jabba The Hutt Fear Line

In the first full clip from The Book of Boba Fett, Fett and Fennec Shand discuss their plans to seize power in Tatooine’s seedy criminal underbelly. The Mandalorian spinoff will see Temuera Morrison reprise his role as the fan-favorite bounty hunter, following his appearance in season 2 of the live-action Star Wars show. Morrison is no stranger to the Star Wars universe, first portraying Boba Fett’s father, Jango Fett, back in 2002’s Attack of the Clones before making his surprise return in The Mandalorian.  Ming-Na Wen will also reprise her Mandalorian role as assassin Fennec Shand, once again joining Fett’s side as the bounty hunter’s partner in crime.

The Book of Boba Fett, first teased at the end of season 2 of The Mandalorian, will follow the titular Fett as he attempts to gain power over Tatooine’s criminal empire following Jabba the Hutt’s death. While Fett ends his post-credit Mandalorian clip taking the late Hutt’s throne, trailers have shown that Fett has competition, with other parties also vowing for control. While sharing the same DNA as its predecessor, The Book of Boba Fett looks to be tonally very different from its predecessor, with Wen likening the show to The Godfather.

As shared by Peoplethe latest clip from the show sees Boba and Fennec talking business on the dusty streets of what looks like Mos Eisley. During the scene, the pair talk about how much ground they have to cover if they want to keep Jabba’s empire functioning. Fett reiterates that he intends to rule with respect, a sentiment heard in several other trailers for the show; Shand tells Fett that sometimes, fear is a surer bet in establishing order. Boba and Fennec are clearly aware that becoming criminal kingpins isn’t going to be an easy task, but by the looks of the clip, Shand has her work cut out if she’s going to convince Fett that respect might not cut it with the worst the galaxy has to offer. Fett has already shown that he’s changed, as demonstrated with his behavior during his Mandalorian episodes. Still, the dynamic between Fett and Shand will be interesting to explore in The Book of Boba Fett, especially as Fett seems to have turned away from a life of bounty hunting.

While there’s not long to go until The Book of Boba Fett hitsit’s not the only live-action Star Wars show on the way, and next year promises to be the biggest year yet for the franchise’s Disney+ takeover. Not only will season 3 of The Mandalorian air at some point in 2022, but the Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor shows are also due for release within the next 12 months. The hotly anticipated Ahsoka and mysterious The Acolyte series are both due to start filming next year. While the next Star Wars movie, Rogue Squadron, seems to be in trouble, Star Wars will continue its domination on the small screen, with The Book of Boba Fett beginning on 29th December.
