Blade’s Hidden Superpower Makes Him Immune to Mind Control

Blade’s Hidden Superpower Makes Him Immune to Mind Control

Warning: Spoilers for Blade #7!A secret superpower has revealed that Blade is actually immune to mind control. After a prolific training session with Dracula, Blade has gained a few new powers over the course of his most recent series. This secret power, though, has been showcased in Blade’s repertoire since before he ever entered the Lord of Darkness’ domain.

Since the start of the series, the Daywalker has refused anyone’s attempt to possess his body. This is first seen early in the series when Blade is able to resist being possessed by Lord Daido, on account of just how angry it made him. Now, he uses this resistance to mind control to his advantage in Blade #7 by Bryan Hill, Valentina Pinti, KJ Diaz, and VC’s Cory Petit.

When encountering a monster who has possessed a young boy, Blade is able to resist the same kind of mental manipulation. He even lures the monster into a false sense of security, highlighting how powerful this new ability is for him.

Blade Once Again Resists Possession

Blade offers his body to a demon

In Blade #2 by Bryan Hill, Elena Casagrande, Valentina Pinti, KJ Diaz, and VC’s Cory Petit, the title character is on a rescue mission to save his arms-dealer ex from the ancient villain Lord Daido. The issue ends when Daido is able to possess Blade, but at the very start of the next issue, Blade is able to snap himself out of it. “I get ******* pissed off” is his only explanation for Lord Daido – before he kills him – as to how he’s able to resist this possession.

Blade #7 sees him answer a call from Bruce Banner to save a local boy from a demon possession. Blade is no exorcist expert (that’s Daredevil’s job), but he does offer the demon his own body to possess instead. The demon enters Blade, but can’t control his mind, and thus a trap is set. Blade lures the demon to a field where the Hulk is there to smash Blade’s wolf body hard enough to allow the vampire to spit out his demon guest. Hulk then finishes the job, stomping the demon to death.

Blade’s Anger Rivals That Of The Hulk

Blade and Hulk trick a demon

It looks like Hulk and Blade make for the best possible exorcist duo in their own right. Blade is too angry to be possessed, while Hulk can unleash his rage on any creature attempting to invade them. It’s particularly impressive that Blade manages to continue to consistently use anger as his superpower in the same way that Hulk does. Blade is always portrayed as so calm, cool, and collected (in ways Doctor Strange hates), but clearly, he harbors enough resentment within himself that he can use it productively in his war on evil.
