Oni Press will begin its publishing initiative with Nacelleverse #0, which will span 40-pages. The over-sized issue will be a one-shot featuring the creative team of Melissa Flores, Diogenes Neves, and several other artists who are set to work on the newest iterations of Nacelle properties. The issue will feature a wraparound cover from Mike Deodato, Jr. The artist is best known for New Avengers and The Flash. Flores previously worked on Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, while Neves has worked on Realm of X and Suicide Squad. The one-shot will include each of the major properties acquired by Nacelle, including Biker Mice From Mars and Robo Force.

Brian Volk-Weiss, the Founder and CEO of Nacelle, says of the new storytelling endeavor:

This fantastic partnership with Oni Press will help us expand our storytelling capabilities in a way that we know resonates with fans – through the limitless power of comics and graphic novels. Building upon the rich history of the many fan-favorite toy lines that populate the NACELLEVERSE and building a roadmap for fans to enter the interconnected world of our upcoming animated series, these series will be tailor-made entry points for longtime fans and new readers. Before anyone hits play on one of our series, they’ll know exactly what the events leading up to the first fade are.

Hunter Gorinson, Oni Press President and Publisher, added:

Toys and comics have a long and storied history of mutual admiration and cross-collaboration. From Transformers and Micronauts to G.I. Joe and ROM, some of the most impactful comics stories ever told have drawn inspiration from the world of toys. Alongside our partners at Nacelle and our amazing cast of creators, we’re working to craft the next chapter in that time-tested legacy. Having seen firsthand Nacelle’s exciting and ambitious plans for the future, I know toy fans and comic readers alike are going to have a lot to look forward to in the NACELLEVERSE.”

Nacelleverse #0 will establish this new multiverse, as it will mark the comic debuts of numerous heroes and villains. The first issue spinning out of the one-shot will be Robo Force #1. The titular group is described as a “scrappy, overworked team of once-thought obsolete robots who might just be Earth’s last, best chance at survival.” It will also serve as a lead-in to the upcoming animated series. Fans of the toys – or anyone interested in the rejuvenation of a toy line that has yet to have its own heyday – will want to pay close attention to these new interconnected animated and comic series.

An official release date for Nacelleverse #0 has yet to be announced – but with the announcement of the shared continuity arriving to whet fans’ appetites just days before 2023’s New York Comic-Con, it is likely that more information will come to light at Nacelle’s NYCC panel, scheduled for Sunday, October 15, from 12:00-1:00 PM. As Oni Press continues to expand its roster of titles, it is sure to make a great, creatively-free home for franchises like Robo Force and Biker Mice from Mars; what’s more, the Nacelleverse is perfectly poised as a rival to Skybound Entertainment’s Energon Universe, which is sure to push them both to the top of their storytelling game.
