Big Mouth: 5 Times Missy Was A Total Mood (& 5 She Was The Worst)

Big Mouth: 5 Times Missy Was A Total Mood (& 5 She Was The Worst)

In the popular adult animated Netflix series Big Mouth, viewers follow a small group of middle schoolers as they handle all of the things that come along with puberty. One of the best female characters of the series is Missy Foreman-Greenwald, the ultimate nerd who loves all things romance and is one of the best friends any character could have.

Missy has a ton of relatable qualities for people of all ages, but she definitely has a couple of bad ones as well. Here are 5 times that Missy was a total mood, along with the 5 times that she was the worst.

The Worst: Her Sugar High

Big Mouth: 5 Times Missy Was A Total Mood (& 5 She Was The Worst)

At Jessi’s sleepover in the season one episode “Sleepover: A Harrowing Ordeal of Emotional Brutality,” Missy joins two of the school’s most popular girls, Devin and Lola, at Jessi’s house for a fun girls night. When Missy arrives, her parents make Jessi aware of what happens when she drinks or eats any sugar; however, later in the night, Missy drinks almost a full 6 pack of Coke.

Shortly after, Missy has crazy hallucinations and starts dancing around screaming at the other girls. By the end of the night, she and Jessi get in a huge argument that definitely wouldn’t have started if Missy would have just avoided all of the sugar.

Total Mood: Her Love For Romance Novels

One of Missy’s most favorite things in the world is reading romance novels like “The Rock of Gibraltar.” This is something that many people can relate to.

While all of her other friends are learning about their bodies in a much different way, Missy is spending her time catching up on her favorite romance novel and she eventually talks all of her other friends into reading the book, causing them to become obsessed with it as well.

The Worst: She Didn’t Protest On Dress Code Along W/ The Other Girls

In the season three episode “Girls Are Angry Too,” Missy and all of the girls in the school are appalled when they find out that there is a new dress code made for everyone but it mainly applies to girls and their clothes. They then decide to come into school the next day dressed in super risky clothes to stick it to the man; however, while everyone else shows up dressed as they said they would be, Missy is dressed in her normal everyday clothes.

When everyone sees Missy dressed normally, they get even more furious and cause Missy to cry. To be fair, it does make the other girls look bad if one person says that they are going to join the protest and then back out at the last minute. It’s definitely one of the worst things that Missy has done, even if the other girls handled the situation badly.

Total Mood: She Struggles With Body Issues

Body issues are one of the most common things that everyone deals with, especially in the age of social media where there is the added pressure to look like Instagram models. Missy has her own body image issues, with her insecurities being presented clearly through an alter ego of herself.

When Jessi and her mother find out how Missy feels about herself, they decide to have a spa day where literally all of the women are nude and proud of their bodies. Not only does this boost Missy’s self-image, but it helps her to destroy her awful alter ego.

The Worst: She Isn’t Able To Read Social Cues

Missy is one of the most talkative and nerdy girls in the series, but along with all of her knowledge, she does often have trouble understanding social cues. She likes to completely change up conversations and talk about things that don’t really make any sense when she is around her friends.

This goes hand-in-hand with Missy being about to talk a lot about a bunch of different things. Although this is one of her worst qualities, Missy is still one of the most lovable characters.

Total Mood: She Is Comfortable With Being Single

Throughout the entire series, Missy and Andrew have a lot of chemistry and even start a relationship until their parents force them to split up because they think that they are wrong for each other. Even after this, Andrew tries to get Missy to date him in secret and she goes along with it until he begins to pressure her and makes her uncomfortable. After all that they have been through, Missy decides that she is perfectly fine with being single and just enjoying her life alone.

Maybe within the next season, Missy will consider reuniting with Andrew since the two have so much history and get along great. Until then, Missy is happy with where she is in life.

The Worst: Kissing Nick

After watching Missy go through such a back and forth relationship with Andrew, it is pretty difficult to watch her get close to Nick and to watch him kiss her.

Nick and Andrew have been best friends since they were kids and often have their own problems to deal with; however, after Nick and Missy share a kiss during their musical in the episode “Disclosure The Movie: The Musical,” it causes even more problems between the close friends and even ends their friendship.

Total Mood: Her Glow Worm

In a series where all of the young teens are discovering their bodies and what they like, it isn’t surprising to learn that one of the female characters has been discovering herself since she was an infant.

Missy’s glow worm has been around since she was a baby and she has been doing what she calls a “worm dance” since she was super young as well. Missy’s mom supported her after catching her in the act, which is definitely something that all little girls deserve to hear. The only thing wrong with this is that Missy probably shouldn’t have done the “worm dance” in front of the entire school.

The Worst: She Talks Way Too Much

Since Missy is one of the smartest and most quirky but nerdy girls in school, it isn’t too surprising that she likes to talk a lot and probably too much. In several episodes, she tends to talk over other people and likes to throw random bits of facts and knowledge at her friends, but she does not always get the best response from them. Unfortunately, this only causes Missy to talk even more.

All in all, Missy is a huge mood, but she doesn’t always know when to stop talking.

Total Mood: She Is Always There For Her Friends

One of Missy’s best qualities is that she is always there for her friends. She pays close attention to her friends and nearly always notices what is going on with them way before anyone else.

Missy is the first character to notice that Jessi is going through a hard time and that she has started shoplifting as a way to deal with her parents’ divorce. In response, Missy doesn’t leave Jessi’s side after she confronts her about it. Missy is one of the best friends anyone could have in this series.
