Janelle Pierzina and Kaysar Ridha are gone from Big Brother 22: All-Stars, and the fans have begun to evaluate which game mistakes contributed to their eviction. The game of Big Brother is very complex. Interpersonal factors and potential future threats certainly come into play… and during an All-Stars season, there are also these players’ reputations to take into consideration. As a three-time BB houseguest, Janelle was a huge target before she even stepped into this season. She played a very good game on both BB6 and BB7, and was then brought on as a coach for BB14. In turn, Kaysar competed alongside Janelle on BB6 and BB7.
Janelle and Kaysar are currently the only two-time All-Stars players in the history of the show. Given their longstanding reputations, there’s no denying that the other BB22 houseguests were threatened by them from day one. Janelle and Kaysar were against the wall the entire time, but some fans also think that they made certain significant mistakes that didn’t help their game in the BB house. After all, were there certain things that Janelle and Kaysar could’ve done differently in order to keep a lower profile during the start of the season?
From the very first week on Big Brother: All-Stars, some viewers expressed that they worried about Kaysar playing “too hard” once again. The fans wanted him to keep a low profile some time, but Janelle’s read of the game was that it was virtually impossible for them to be completely ignored by the other houseguests. The first HOH of the season, Cody Calafiore, indeed had plans to put them on the nomination block, which prompted Janelle and Kaysar to play the Safety Suite competition. In hindsight, however, it wasn’t very wise for them to play against each other and burn their VIP access cards during the same week. Considering that they were going to pick each other as a plus-one, at least one of them should’ve sat out to try to win a different week.
As BB22 moved forward, another big mistake that Janelle and Kaysar made was trying to reach just enough votes to swing the vote. In modern Big Brother, it is arguably easier to reach a unanimous vote than to convince a handful of people to vote against the consensus established by the season’s dominant alliance. With that in mind, all Kaysar and Janelle’s strategy ultimately just showed their hand to the other players week after week. There’s never any guarantee, but the plan could’ve worked if they tried to strike deals with the heads of the dominant alliances. As they tried to make individual agreements with weaker players, they made themselves targets while creating nothing but confusion among their allies.
Nonetheless, Big Brother 22 must go on. It is unfortunate that two legendary players were evicted pre-jury, but a combination of factors did make their eliminations simply inevitable.
