Big Brother 25: Why Was Blue Kim’s Tattoo Blurred?

Big Brother 25: Why Was Blue Kim’s Tattoo Blurred?

Big Brother 25 is well underway, and regular viewers have gotten familiar with the BB houseguests, so many were confused to see one of Blue Kim’s tattoos blurred out in a recent episode. The houseguests are well aware of the restrictions of being in the BB house. Outside the standard limits, like having to win comfortable accommodations and food on top of luxury items, BB houseguests are also restricted in what they’re allowed to wear, what they’re allowed to say, and sometimes, which of their tattoos can be shown on camera. For houseguests who have many tattoos like Blue, this can be tricky.

As a part of the younger alliance in the house, Blue has become a popular houseguest for viewers to keep track of. Blue is aligned in the game with BB houseguests Jag Bains and Matt Klotz and is potentially sparking a showmance with Jared Fields. The series has never been shy about what they can show regarding relationships, but sometimes the houseguests have items that are prohibited for them to wear or show on camera. This can be due to things like copyright law, but other factors also come into play.

How Many Tattoos Does Blue Kim Have?

Although it’s common for houseguests to come from all sorts of backgrounds, seeing BB houseguests with tattoos is much more typical in the modern era of Big Brother than in the past. As tattoos have become more culturally accepted in the US, the houseguests with many tattoos have been identified less as “scary” or “strange” and more as standard, the same way they have been categorized outside the house. Blue, who shared early in the season that she has 33 tattoos, has shown that there’s much more to her than the art she’s inked onto her body.

Why Was Blue’s Tattoo Blurred Out On BB25?

Big Brother 25: Why Was Blue Kim’s Tattoo Blurred?

Although it’s not confirmed, Blue’s tattoo was likely blurred on a recent episode of Big Brother 25 due to copyright laws. When tattoos of copyrighted material are on television, the networks must clear that legally with the copyright owner and artist. Though possible, it’s tedious for the network, so they will either ask contestants to cover their tattoos or blur them out. This is also why Matt’s tattoo of the Olympics and Deaflympics logos must also be covered. Some tattoos are also blurred to keep broadcasts appropriate. It’s possible Blue’s tattoo of a woman crying blood could have been blurred to keep things conservative, as well.

While Big Brother 25 has been off to a highly competitive start, the contestants are still getting to know one another and learn more about their lives outside the house. Blue, who seems to be an open book online, has been listening more than she has been sharing in the BB house. Regardless, uncovering more and more of her tattoos on screen has been a fun twist to the season. Even if some have to be covered up on Big Brother 25’s telecasts, they’re out in the open for viewers to see on the BB 25 live feeds.

Big Brother airs Sundays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET and Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
