After announcing that he needs to depart Below Deck season 10 for medical reasons, Captain Lee Rosbach received an overwhelming amount of fan support on social media. At the beginning of the season, Captain Lee disclosed that he was suffering from some nerve issues on the left side of his body but was publicly dismissing retirement rumors and things of that nature. However, as the season progressed, he had to sit his crew down and let them know that it was no longer safe for him to be out at sea with his condition.Following his announcement, Below Deck fans took to Twitter to share support and kind words for Captain Lee. User @EtherealDarkne5 said, “I am so heartbroken seeing you go. I hope you get better! You are #BelowDeck!” Many of his fans claimed that Below Deck will not be the same without him. Captain Lee Doing Better Since Below Deck Season 10
A few of his fans also tweeted him to check in on how his health is now, knowing that Below Deck would have been filmed earlier in the year. @WeddingsbyAllie asked, “Does anyone have a recent update on our deal @capthlr? I hope things got better for him!” Captain Lee quote tweeted it and replied that things have indeed gotten much better. Other fans that chimed in talked about how much they love his openness and honesty on Below Deck, as he is real about his health struggles. @curly_jones said, “Cap, you sir are a straight shooter. Nobody has to guess where they stand with you…You are the reason I love Below Deck!!” Everyone is really rooting for his recovery and is thankful for an honest reality TV star.
His mid-season departure is not unprecedented, as he did make a brief departure from Below Deck season 9 to also recover from some unrelated health issues. While fans have always wished him well, it is nice to see support from all different kinds of people on his social media. The captain has retweeted a lot of tweets that show he is grateful for the people who support him and his health. Many shared that they hope he is back up on his feet soon, and some related to the fact that it can be difficult to not be able to physically do the job that one loves to do.
Captain Lee has been a staple of Below Deck since its inception in 2013. While he may be leaving early during Below Deck season 10, it is yet to be determined if this is truly the end for the captain. He had been dismissing rumors that he is retiring prior to this episode airing, so while he may need a break to get his health back on track, the door is definitely not closed for him to return in the future. With Captain Lee making his departure, it is unclear who will take his spot in the remaining episodes of Below Deck season 10, but everyone wishes him a speedy recovery so that he can get back out on the water and continue doing what he loves.
