Captain Sandy Yawn is once again at the helm for Below Deck Mediterranean season 7, with fans hoping this could be the best season of the franchise yet. Captain Sandy has always been a polarizing character, thanks to her micromanaging abilities. Now with a new season ahead with a whole new crew, this could be her year.
Over the years, Captain Sandy has annoyed viewers once or twice with her extreme leadership skills since she often checks to see if her team is doing a good job. However, for the most part, fans of the nautical franchise have enjoyed watching a woman in the captain’s role. Captain Sandy takes great pride in her work and ability to teach other women yachting skills, which was evident by her close friendship with bosun Malia White. If a woman on deck or in the interior has a passion for yachting, Captain Sandy makes sure to take some time and nurture their skills which have always shown the Below Deck Med star in a good light.
Below Deck Med season 7 will show Captain Sandy having to juggle a bit more than she is used to. Not only will she have to take on a new crew and location, but the Colorado native will also have to figure out her new vessel and quickly. The ultra-sleek and modern Home is a 50-meter yacht with all the comforts of “home.” The hybrid vessel is not one that Captain Sandy is used to, but her ambition to master it will help her shine. She has never been afraid of a new challenge, and Below Deck Med season 7 will be her time to shine.
The fact that Below Deck Med season 7 has a new cast will be a great chance for Captain Sandy to show that she can work with anyone. While the captain still has control, she has been working on her micromanaging skills. The only returning cast member will be Below Deck Med season 6 deckhand Mzi Dempers, so Sandy has a clean slate with everyone. Fans will be able to see Captain Sandy take charge, but in a loving way that is only meant to benefit the crew and their professional lives.
Captain Sandy will be thrilled to have Mzi back on Below Deck Med as she now has an ally. The newest season will be one of the hardest yet, but also the most rewarding for Sandy. While some viewers may still find Captain Sandy a bit much, nonetheless, it is hard to ignore how much she has accomplished and should be given credit.
