Below Deck Med: Captain Sandy Taking A Break To Go On Motivational Tour

Captain Sandy Yawn from Below Deck Mediterranean is taking a step back from yachting to embark on a motivational tour in the new year. Viewers know Sandy as this micromanaging captain who always tries to motivate her crewmates to do better in their positions. Since she’s been on the show, Sandy has been a mentor to some of the other yachties on deck. During seasons 3 and 4 of the Bravo series, Sandy became close with Joao Franco, who was a deckhand and a bosun throughout the two seasons.

By the end of season 4, Sandy even managed to get Joao an interview for a captain’s position. After he left the series, Malia White returned as the bosun, and Sandy took her under her wing. They quickly became close confidants, with Malia feeling comfortable enough to go to Sandy about what she found in the cabin she shared with chief stewardess Hannah Ferrier. Last season, Hannah was fired after Sandy discovered Valium and a vape pen in her room.

According to Us Weekly, the long-time megayacht caption revealed she is taking a step back from the industry to embark on a 22-city motivational tour called the Lead-Her-Ship Tour. “I want to use this platform to inspire others,” Sandy admitted to the magazine. “I didn’t seek the maritime industry. I fell into it. So many people now are aware of it. I wish Bravo was out and this show was out when I was a kid because I think I would have discovered this a lot sooner.” The tour will include musical guests and the 56-year-old’s personal stories of how she navigated life before fame. Sandy, who celebrated 33 years of sobriety, is also sharing her love for music and her new side hustle of DJing. Sandy believes the one thing that connects all people universally is music.

I don’t care where you go in the world, you play a song, everyone starts singing it in the same language,” she noted. The reality star also wants to teach her fans, especially Americans, to go out there and get their passports. Now that COVID-19 restrictions have been reduced, Sandy is urging everyone to go out there and see the world. She wants to encourage people to get out there to travel and experience other cultures. If it wasn’t for the maritime industry, Sandy, who feuded with Malia, wouldn’t be on this journey she is on today and wouldn’t have had the chance to learn about so many different cultures. In fact, it’s one of the main reasons why she loves being a part of Below Deck Med. The tour is planned to kick off on January 28, 2022, for four months, starting on the West Coast.

Captain Sandy was born to be a motivational speaker, and this tour is a great opportunity for her to offer Below Deck Med fans advice. The reality star has always been so passionate about the maritime industry, and if anyone can get people to convert to the industry, it’s Captain Sandy.

Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo.
