Since Dani Soares from Below Deck Sailing Yacht announced she was expecting her first child, Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux has completely avoided any responsibility for their baby. When the former second stew revealed she was pregnant, fans quickly took to social media and online chatrooms to discuss the paternity of her unborn child.
Seeing as she was pretty far along in her announcement Instagram post, viewers were positive Jean-Luc, whom Dani had an intimate relationship with on the boat, was the father. A couple of months after Dani revealed she was expecting, JL took to his social media to defend his character. Jean-Luc claimed he was heartbroken to hear about the birth of Dani’s child over social media and wants to be there for Dani and the baby if the child is his.
In another Instagram post, JL also admitted that he wants to take a paternity test but wants to do it when he and Dani are together in one room. Despite his public claims of wanting to be involved, however, JL is still doing everything possible to avoid taking responsibility for his child.
He Lied About Being Blocked
During the season two reunion last month, JL claimed Dani blocked him on social media. However, that seems to be a lie. According to fellow costar Colin MacRae, who appeared on the Altered Reality podcast, JL lied about Dani blocking him. “ I’m friends with Dani, and she’s shown me like screenshots of messages and stuff to save a little bit of face,” he revealed. He added, “According to what he was saying, she was blocking him from this, and it was absolutely false. I felt really bad for Dani.” Colin seems to think JL was the one blocking Dani.
He Made His Complaints Publicly Instead Of Privately
A couple of months after Dani announced her pregnancy, JL shared his side of the story on social media. After hearing what people have been saying about him online, JL felt the need to defend himself. He said he only found out about the child’s birth through social media and wants to know if the baby is his. However, Colin believes JL was lying and felt he was only delaying the process. Instead of picking up the phone and calling Dani, he decided to air his grievances online.
He Won’t Get A Paternity Test
JL refuses to get a paternity test, even though he has claimed he will only provide for the child if he is certain he is the father. He even took to Instagram in another post where he spoke about wanting a paternity test and promised to be more involved in his daughter’s life if she was his. Colin slammed JL’s remarks in the comment section writing, “JL, why do you continue to lie through your teeth? Please keep this disgustingly desperate attempt to save face and blame Dani, off of social media [..] do what’s right for this poor little girl.” Colin revealed it had been more than seven months since JL discovered Dani was pregnant and he had all that time to take a test but still refused. What’s more, Dani sent him a photo of their daughter, Lily, and JL didn’t respond.
Even though JL has said on multiple occasions that he wants to be there for Dani and his daughter, he has done nothing to make an effort. He has avoided all responsibility in helping Dani raise their child. Hopefully, JL will step up to the plate now that he has been called out so many times.
