Beetlejuice 2 art predicts what Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder could look like in the upcoming sequel. The first movie, directed by Tim Burton, followed the Maitlands, a deceased, ghostly couple struggling to share their home, who contact the malevolent spirit known as Betelgeuse in order to drive the new owners away. Beetlejuice 2 will release on September 6, 2024, more than 30 years after the original film, and sees the return of Keaton and Ryder as the title character and Lydia Deetz, respectively. The rest of the movie’s cast includes Catherine O’Hara, Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe.

The artwork depicts Beetlejuice in a couple different suits, resembling his iconic striped outfit from the original, while predicting Lydia to wear red and black. The images include other characters as well, likely creatures from the Netherworld.
What To Expect From Keaton & Ryder’s Beetlejuice Return
Near the Beetlejuice ending, Lydia agreed to marry Keaton’s character, but only to help the Maitlands. However, Barbara (Geena Davis) put a stop to their impromptu ceremony, using a sandworm to rid them of the troublesome spirit. Not much is known about the sequel, or what exactly brings Betelgeuse back, but it was recently revealed by cinematographer Haris Zambarloukos that Beetlejuice 2 will explore the idea of family. When it comes to Keaton’s return, it has been teased that the actor will don his famous black and white costume again, and that Bellucci will be playing his wife.
It could be that he has somehow returned to exact revenge on Lydia for the previous movie’s events. Since the confirmation of Beetlejuice 2, set photos have emerged online, giving a glimpse of other characters, including Ryder’s Lydia. From previous images, Lydia’s appearance doesn’t seem to have changed much, as she was still embracing her gothic side, though she was seen attending the wedding of Ortega’s character, who is confirmed to be Lydia’s daughter. Their dynamic should add a new edge to Beetlejuice 2‘s story.
Based on everything that’s been teased surrounding Beetlejuice 2, and the return of Keaton and Ryder, the above artwork could predict an accurate version of their characters, tapping into their old styles and odd dynamic. There has been much interest in a follow-up for years, and it will be interesting to see what Betelgeuse and Lydia have been up to, and what they look like, when the sequel is finally released.
