Beauty & The Beast Takes A Whole New Turn With Belle’s Father At A Rave In Video

A scene from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast gets totally reimagined in a new video, putting Belle’s father into the middle of a rave. Released in 1991, Beauty and the Beast remains one of Disney’s most beloved and acclaimed animated movies. The story follows a prince cursed to live out the rest of his days as a hideous monster who subsequently attempts to win the affection of a young woman named Belle, who would later become a beloved Disney princess.

In a recent video shared by @inevitable_meemes on Instagram, Belle’s father, Maurice, who is widely regarded by other people in his village to be somewhat kooky, becomes a hardcore raver. Check out the creative video below:

The edit latches onto a scene in the original Beauty and the Beast in which Gaston pays Monsieur D’Arque to detain Maurice, with Gaston attempting to marry Belle against her wishes.

Beauty And The Beast & The Underrated Disney Era

Disney’s first animated feature film was Snow White in 1937, which remains a classic, but many of the company’s most beloved animated movies would come years later in the 1950s and ’60s. These two decades would see the release of movies like Cinderalla, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, One Hundred and One Dalmations, and The Jungle Book. Most of these films are now considered some of the company’s best and most iconic.

While there’s a strong argument to be made that the 1950s and ’60s were Disney’s “Golden Era,” the years leading up to and following The Beauty and the Beast saw the release of some true Disney classics for a new generation. There is, of course, 1989’s The Little Mermaid, but the rest of the ’80s featured the release of underrated movies like The Fox and the Hound, epic fantasy adventure The Black Cauldron, and Sherlock Holmes riff The Great Mouse Detective.

Immediately following Beauty and the Beast comes 1992’s Aladdin, with The Lion King following in 1994, and Pocahontas and Toy Story following in 1995. While which era is best is, of course, a matter of personal preference, Beauty and the Beast serves as a sign post announcing the massive resurgence in Disney popularity that would be to come in the 1990s.
